In these almost 39 years of life, I've heard many songs. However, few were as beautiful as this one. Music well done! Harmony, melody, arrangement. Congratulations to the composer of this song! I also play bass, and I really like music like that! Rafael from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Rafael, check out some of the very early 'Level 42' albums. If you thought you'd heard Mark King, and his distinctive style, trust me the young M.K. was a firebrand, and was well known for his melodic jazz stylings. He was one of three top players who inspired me to pick up the bass...and that for me was also 39 years ago too. Good luck for you in your future playing 👍🏿
My friend... (Hope you don't mind referring to you in this way). I have a Black Tiger Smith 6 and I can assure you that wherever you set the eq. you are gonna get a unique and amazing sound. Here it sound a bit further towards the bridge pu. with some treble and bass dialled up.
The album version with pattitucci is better, a LITTLE bit faster, the orchestra is a bit more in tune, the bass playing is a bit hipper. If you don’t like this performance, I’d still give the album version a chance, though i do personally still like this version, just not AS much as the album.

Goes to show how versatile a bass is its my favorite instruments sound great with an orchestra.
Well done. Heart of the Bass is one of my favourite recordings, and it's nice to see another bassist bring this great composition to life.
I have John Pattitucci's Heart of Bass CD and really like this song. Good to see it performed, good job.
Sounds EXACTLY like Patitucci!
Man I always love and will those Ken Smith Basses, sound so amazing

John patitucci ,heart of the bass album,i thought JP wrote that???!!
He wrote the solo bass tracks. Chick Corea wrote the bass piano and string section tunes, and Beal wrote the concerto
Amazing!! How can I access the parts? do you sell them?

Their timing is awful. Sounds like they’re sight-reading the performance.
Come on guys - this sucks! It's a boring composition, the coordination is poor and the bass player lacks timing.
I have to agree it's not the most interesting composition.
Absolutely! Plus: except the solo parts, the bass playing is not really good in dynamics and articulation

Yet.. just some how.. he got the gig and not you.
So who is the person who programmed the drums? This is lame.
