It’s not a Dutch/Flamish windmill. On the Iberian peninsula there are a lot of these types of windmills, like the battle of Don Quichotte against them😉
I really love your videos! Each one is so well-researched and your lovely voice is perfect for ASMR 💖 (as a Scot, I was just wondering if Ayrshire is on your list? The region is broken down into East, North and South Ayrshire so you may well have it set aside for later which is absolutely valid 😊)
@@ASMRGeographica Awesome, the more videos the merrier 😍 In the meantime, congrats on reaching the end of the A regions and I'm excited to watch your future videos in this series!
Very great video!! Great to see this information!! My great great grandparents came from these islands in the early 1900s, so great to learn a part of my heritage!
Interesting, but a bit inaccurate around minute 10. Spain did not conquer Portugal It was rather a dynastic union where the King of Spain happened to also be the King of Portugal for dynastic succession reasons. So the Azores were never actually "Spanish" in this period, even though the king of Portugal was indeed a Spaniard.
I'm from mainland Portugal. The correct pronunciation in Portuguese is /a-sso-res/. I know english uses the Z sound but the actual one isn't Z at all 😅 ss sound- like the s in sad, song...
Sorry, but this is 100% incorrect. First of all In portuguese the spelling is Açores. Correct pronunciation is AH (as in fAther) - ssoros - (like George SOROS but with a sibilant S) 😊
@@leosgf Yes, not saying its the correct pronunciation in Portuguese, but for those living in English speaking places the other pronunciation is totally ok, especially if you're trying to assimilate to a new language and culture. Now if someone mispronounces your name and its Joao that might be a different story.
just discovered your channel and i love your content so much pls never stop uploading
Flanders person here, never heard of this story in regards to my area / people, thats quite cool hehe

Cool video 👍 I'd love to visit the Azores some day.
Btw 'ananas' is pineapple 🍍, not bananas 🍌

My family is originally from Ilha de São Miguel! It’s such a beautiful place

There is a tradition of "baking" break in the sand. You just need to know where to Digital a hole. 😊

2nd generation Azorean/American. All my family, even the ones born there, pronounce it AYE-Zoors.

Macaronesia, not macronesia.
Omg yes that's right, I realized during research I had been saying it wrong but then forgot
