i loved this. it was perfect for me. i became interested in all this as a side hobby from Dan' Brown's novel, Angel's & Demons- a mystery crime drama that takes place during the death and search of a new pope & involves full history of vatican city, religion, christianity, church and art history-- i highly recommend watching the movie by the same name. it all takes place in vatican city- its amazing. this reminded me of it. thank you so much!

About the strange looking painting you thought was the red sea parting - you're correct. That entire wall (the Southern Wall) tells the story of Moses. The Northern wall tells the story of Jesus.

Pope Francis is the first South American Pope, but Rodrigo Borgia was the first Spanish speaking one (he was Spanish). He was elected as Pope Alexander VI in 1492. Probably the most controversial Pope ever because even though he was Pope, he ruled as a king.
