If I mix it for 5 minutes, it gets rock solid still in the mixing bin. Try 30 seconds to 1 minute.
You got your figures wrong you said multiply the weight of the plaster by 6.5 it should be 0.65
Thanks Deakin Kell
Also he wrongly stated that plaster weight should be 'multiplied' by 6.5 (or correctly, 0.65). Plaster weight will be divided by it or water weight multiplied.
But good informative video
This makes sense as the mixture I did by following him became far too thick. I had to shake it roughly to get it to go in.
these quatrer ounce talk is ridiculous, liters and cubic centimeters are multiples of 10 and 100 is so much simple
So0o0o what was the point of pouring water from one container to other container???
Good video but the music is incredibly annoying
I want to know how much area a pound of plaster will cover. I finally gathered several molds just in case and a pound will fill a pie pan about half way. 1 inch deep by about 10 inches across.
If you listen to the video, there is some interesting (note: I didn't say useful) information. However, if you watch the video.... you will see a lot of bad practices, bumbling around, and downright "Don't-do-that-ever" clips. wow
Before I knew about this, I I made an anime head sculpture using patching plaster for holes on walls since that's all I had. Yes it's true.
Think I saw same technique on WWF.
Do you use release agent before you pour the plaster?
Although I take all the steps mentioned in your video, I still get a few small pin holes from air bubbles. Does it make sense to mix up a small amount of the original powder to fill in the pin holes rather than using an off the shelf filler?
No matter how careful you are. Elimination of pin holes can only be accomplished in a vacuum chamber.
Thanks for the help. Really appreciated.
To mix by VOLUME use .48 POUNDS .... HELLO. McFly
I'm glad I saw this. I did my first plaster cast in a VERY long time and unfortunately I stirred the water WHILE adding plaster... a big no no
You should be okay. Though the cast will not be as strong as one made by allowing the plaster to sit in the water undisturbed. Just be more carefully in handling the cast as it will be more fragile. We wish you all the best
@@EnvironMolds I ended up doing a new cast and I let the plaster sit for 20 minutes in the water... and after it settled, I poured off the water off the top, mixed it up, and poured it into my silicone mould...
Now it feels very solid and I'll be waiting for a week so it can cure

No plasters are not waterproof:....???????.
What can be used to coat the plaster, to make it waterproof ?
Mod Podge outdoor varnish is a good one to use.
Coukd you do a video not in American with millilitres and grams instead?
Metric system 😢😢😢
What if I am not using a mold and don't want it so thin? I am restoring a statue. Can I add more plaster or will that ruin the integrity?
Hi dosto moi adhiraj kashyap
Great video!
Wheres the superior strength???? this is just how to mix it AND with some glaring mistakes!!
Zip
My problem is when I unmold when do I clean it up I have small pieces sometimes they break sometimes they don't????
WAAU i made so many mistakes, adding water to the plaster etc. Thanks for sharing
When should I add coloring? To the water so it soaks in? No, painting it after looks/acts diff. I like to thin slip it for custom lighting on my homescapes. Thanx in advance for your help🤗
Please delete the "humpty dumpty" music next time.
Oh my appologies, Dean. I had no idea you were going to view the video. My bad!
Note to self: added this for calculation
Margarito sent me here
Thanks,
What can I add to the plaster to make it as hard as resin?

Mine's a very small project. Three 5x7" tiles had fallen off a vertical porch surface. I may have used too much water, but the tiles are very light and I guess I'll know the outcome in 24-48 hours. The video was very thorough, but I didn't absorb the part @ water/plaster til I'd already affixed one'a the tiles. If it doesn't hold, I'll try it again, watching the ratio closer.
