    Can you provide more detail on how you maintain the smaller battery for the water pump? Do you put an outlet down there with a battery tender semi-permanently connected to it?

    Well done electrical work! He did it correct. For your safety, please make sure to add a neutral-ground plug in your generator if it is an inverter generator and the N&G are not bonded. With all the metal in he trailer, if something goes wrong, the generator could keep running with your conduits, boxes, and metal trailer parts could be energized.

    I've been set up like this for year's and it's worked absolutely fantastic for many different camping arrangements. Love it. Great job 👍

    I truly appreciate your video! I have the same thinking as you and yet I couldn’t find anything that supported my theory until now. I truly appreciate your opinion, your workmanship and you showed how you did it all!

    Trailer looks great 👍
    I really like leaving the wire external, If an outlet is some I dont like, move it. I might not even conduit them at first until I use the trailer for awhile -- just heavy duty extension cords until I see where things are needed
    Cheers

    Nicely done video. No distraction!
    I just bought a GE brand 6-space (for 6 breakers), 125 amp panel for my new 7'X16' cargo trailer. I want to put each outlet on its own 15-amp breaker: one for refrigerator, one for microwave, one for 2 hot plate burners, one for toaster oven, one for outside the trailer, and one for anything else (maybe for a split AC in the future but not now).
    I am following you, using 10-3 wires for incoming and 12-3 for going out to all 6 outlets.
    I am not sure if I can use any standard 15-amp breaker or do I need to use GE breaker. What do you think?

    the only difference is the put put put of the generator usage, i know the honda's are quiet and all that good stuff, eventually ill get a generator, but im building a 12v system to start, when we get our fourth battleborn, ill change it over to a 24v system and the only change ill need at that point is the victron multiplus 3000vac, with 600w solar and shore power/gen - the system is starting smaller, but with the full capability to max out at 24v 200ah DC, with shore/gen plug ins - we'll be able to be off grid for upto a week, our only bottleneck will be food capacity, but our camp and power system will be more than sufficient for our needs. I like your setup though it is clean and simple.

    I can buy a yolaness solar generator and solar panels for under a 1000 . I mean you did great work, but mine will be total 12 volt.

    Um i don't know about only one electric set up ,,,iid still have both , last thing i want off grid is a noisy gas generator going when ever i want power and seeing you have no windows that means any time your rig is closed you need to run you genny , ya id think real hard about this guys , im spending the money and doing 12 and 110 true off grid means not having to run into town for gas and also not annoying other campers with my gas generator running all the time ...id rather spend the money on a double set up then be out NOT enjoying my camping .....ya its going to cost about a grand to ad solar but when your out camping and everything works in any situation , its priceless...........

    Just a question, did you say you ran a 30amp cord and plug from your trailer to a 15 amp circuit in your garage?

      I did not., but That’s a good question to an electrician. I haven’t had any issues running my generator or shore power.

    Can I ask why you went with a 30amp shore inlet vs 15amp one please? Thx

    • @4x2WagonFamily
      @4x2WagonFamily  3 года назад

      Hi, The 30 amp is a common outlet at most rv places.
      2. It also allowed me to split the power box so I have a dedicated outlet for my AC / Heater, and another for everything else.

    • @4x2WagonFamily
      @4x2WagonFamily  3 года назад

      One more thing, my Honda generator also supports the 30 amp outlet plug and this was my primary reason to go with a 30 amp on my trailer.

    • @HarshPNW
      @HarshPNW Год назад

      The breaker box was like that because if it was a true 30 amp you would have a red and black coming in to land on each breaker. That's whys its more efficient. The jumper you installed essentially makes it's no more then what you already had

    The reason people go off grid is for peace and quiet not to listen to a generator running all day and night.The best way would have been 12 volt/solar. Use a diesel heater for heat. Also is your ac unit a single or double hose set up. If it's single you will not cool your rig in extreme heat and humidity (NUMEROUS YT video's why it won't work). You need a two hose system for it to work correctly. A 5-8,000 btu window unit would do a much better job cooling and will run from an inexpensive solar system. Also if your current ac goes out and you're boondocking where will you find another unit to replace it. A window unit will cost less than $200.00 versus the unit you have now will be minimum $500.00 and you can't get them at walmart. You can find numerous YT video's on why not to use the ac you are using and there is a good reason not to use it. Your electrical looks good and I agree with it being simple, now add 12 volt/solar it's not that expensive! Then you'll have the ideal CT camper!

    You can go buy a 20 ft. R.v. for 10 k....it's a waste of time and money when they've already done all the work
