    i thought the number on the right of the representative ratio was feet, but its inches. this video helped me understand that, thanks!

    Thanks for making this video. What I still don't understand is why my Vancouver Island map scale reads like this, " 5 - 0 - 5 - 10 - 15 - 20 kilometres ". My question is, why does it start with 5 and than 0? Why not just start at 0? Do I measure from the 0 line or from the first 5? I'm frustrated and desperately need help. Thanks for your time.

    Isn't 24,000 inches = 2,000 ft?

      In the example it is 2,400 inches, which is 200 feet; but you are correct in your conversion of 24,000 inches to 2,000 feet.
