Even so, in the original game, it was just a second identical Mario. (Without any explanation, because Luigi wouldn't be introduced until a year later)

Looks funtastic! I am so ready to play this that I ordered the Donkey Kong Jr. Remix today and I don't even own a Donkey Kong Jr. cabinet!!! I have been playing Donkey Kong Jr on a 60 in 1 board (Mrs Pacman/Galaga 20yr reunion cabinet) but now I have new motivation to get a hold of a Donkey Kong Jr cabinet!!!
This is the best thing to ever happen to Donkey Kong, ever! So many things have been done and added, so amazing, great job!

However, I'm a bit sad that no one will probably ever remake the bakery stage from the Coleco Adams port of Donkey Kong Jr. in arcade format...

this and dk remix are the kind of games i want in the nintendo eshop 😍❤️ would love to see donkey kong 3 remix!
This has now been officially confirmed to be at the 2017 Zapcon V show. The guy who's bringing the donor machine will have a custom DK Junior Remix artwork package on the machine. It will have your prototype of the game installed. We can't wait to have it on display at Zapcon! Stay tuned for an episode with more info!

@@sock_master When the game is set to Free Play, the start music (Bach Toccata) is often missing or replaced with a different sound effect, like the jump sound. Occasionally, when playing Classic, there is no sound and the game doesn't accept any input.

Strange, isn't it? How Nintendo had timers that were, say, "6900" time units instead of just saying "69" seconds. I guess it's to not remind players just how quickly their quarter is being used up?
The timer is actually your bonus points counting down. If you complete a level and it says "3600", you get 3600 bonus points.
Maximum starting bonus points: 8000 (starting at level 4).

This was super cool you are a brilliant coder and programmer "Soc Master" I just have to ask any idea when your DK Remix and DK Junior Remix will ever venture into the MAME world ? Years down the road I suppose huh ? I don't and can't afford any cabs but if I did I would buy both your daughter boards of these magnificent games and add them to the original PCB's in each cab. I'd spend some good money if I could buy them both and add them in my MAME emulator if ever possible. But I suppose i'm dreaming.

It's a reworking of the arcade game. Tons of new code to expand the game and game logic, plus fixes for all sorts of bugs and glitches of the original game.

Unfortunately,it won't be available for MAME at this time/nor at/and not anytime soon (because of the development and it will be available for arcade cabinets only,via daughter boards and because of the extra chip (s) which are incompatible with MAME), just like in the case of Donkey Kong Remix Arcade Version(The only roms for this game in HBMAME are the Demo Version roms with only 2 stages).Besides,Sock Master wants to be paid for his skills,time and contribution to the Donkey Kong Gaming case-scenario; that's why Sock Master *REFUSED* to publicate the roms in MAME.

And the sounds in particular, like Junior jumping and landing on the ground, would have to be recorded straight from a real _Donkey Kong Junior_ arcade machine.
You can play it with a DKJR PCB (with a DKJR Remix already installed in the PCB),by connecting it to a GBS 8200 CGA to VGA converter (via Nintendo to JAMMA) and a VGA Monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio is needed in order to play it in the big screen. I learned it from MikesArcade.com .
And which tool (tools) I need in order to record straight from the real Donkey Kong Junior arcade machine? Very interesting,really.

Is this an actual ROM hack? Its so good I can't even tell...
The original game was reverse engineered and this is a full rebuild using new code, so I'm not sure if it'd be called a ROM hack as it isn't a patch to the original ROMs

Looks to me like some of the collision detection is altered a bit, yes? Remember those DAMN birds killing me at times they really shouldn't have in the arcade.
I improved the collision detection a bit, but I tried not to change it so much that it would feel different. It reliably registers points when jumping over birds now too
GOOD. It severely needed that. The original felt so unfair.
Can this be played in MAME?
For now, not anytime soon. Sorry. The creator decided that this mod will be available on DK Real Hardware only,just like in the cases of DK Deranged and DKJR Trainer. The ones and only that are available in MAME are DK Remix Demo Versio of only 2 stages, both DK Christmas Remix and DK Spooky Remix.

Maybe someday down the line. Translating the Z80 code to 6809 is a huge undertaking, especially since this game is considerably larger than DK. It's a big mountain to commit to climbing.
ive been a longtime CoCo fan, this computer basically shaped my interest for electricity/computers/programming and always wanted to get into emulators... i can make this a side project, if you want, with little guidance. Do you have any suggestions on an IDE to aid with this development?
the Atari 8bit guys have an amazing IDE (WUDSN IDE by Peter Dell) that allows assembly language in a PC and then run the file on an emulator, all in the same PC. i think we should have something similar if possible.

I haven't tried the IDEs listed so I'm not sure which is better. I generally just use a word processor, a stand-alone assembler, DriveWire to transfer files between CoCo and PC and cobble up whatever utilities I may need to process/convert/generate data as needed for a project.
