As a late GenXer born in 1978, this is one of the best movies to describe being an 1980's kid. We were all goonies, and gonnies never die.

Here is a perspective you may find interesting. I was 22 years old when this movie came out, and I did not like it. I have friends just a few years younger than me who count as one of their favorite films. That tells me that I was on the cusp of embracing manhood, and I was less interested in stories about kids. Had I been a few years younger, I may have seen this film as a wistful and nostalgic experience, a memory of my own adventures as a child. But at 22, perhaps I had aged out of the film. It still doesn't really resonate with me. But I like your comments. I'm subscribing to your channel because I like people who think intelligently about movies.

Wow! I appreciate that, and that’s a really interesting point I hadn’t thought of. I feel like there are a bunch of movies that I grew up with that I absolutely adored but if I rewatched them now the flavor of nostalgia is likely the only thing that would carry me through the film. Thanks for sharing I love it when I get to hear others perspectives!
