  • The Sequassen Land and Sea games pit troops in a life or death competition on land, and on the sea. Honest.
OK, ok, ok, no; first off, the "sea" is a lake, and hardly anyone gets killed these days.
Fine, it is a really fun set of races and other games, on Clark Field, and at the waterfront, and if troops are competing, the old cliche about how you play the game is really true; lots of Scouting Spirit, as the scouts really put it all out there, doing their best, and cheering on "the other side."
A big thanks to one of our scouts, who of course I cannot name because of YP, for shooting video of the Ga Ga Ball games, while I grabbed another camera for the sea portion of the games. Which brings me to lessons learned and thoughts for next time. Mounting a camera on a canoe or scout for In and out race should produce some really good results. Likewise, I really need an underwater camera to capture the Knot Underwater and Pie Plate Pickup. There isn't a really good shot of the Scoutmaster Splash from the "stands:" a camera mounted on a tripod, secured to the dock might produce far better results. At another camp - don't worry Migs, I won't say its name - I held a camera as I did my splash, producing a pleasing result; maybe we could do something in that direction. I do have an over the shoulder rig, and a chest rig, as well as some other ways we might a camera on a scout or scouter. See you next year.
