Outstanding artistry and craftsmanship. Can't believe it's taken YT so long to recommend your channel to me, considering all the junk they do try to pawn off on you. Looking forward to delving into your back catalog of work, and can't wait for your next one
Thanks dude 👍🏻🙂 I like to add those intricate details as much as possible. But you have to be careful to not obstruct the playable areas, models still need to be able to fit amongst the ruins 😬👍🏻
So glad I suggested this. Genuinely fantastic piece & great tutorial as always, my friend. No idea why I didn't think of just using my printer & creating the design with Photoshop. Absolute legend. The age of heroes lives on!
As am I Sir. Thank you for the suggestion, it was alot of fun to build. And for my first attempt at a stained glass window, I'm fairly pleased with it 👍🏻😀 best of luck with your project. Also inkjet acetate sheets are fairly cheap on eBay/Amazon 👍🏻
@@irongryphon Thank you, I just ordered some that will hopefully be here tomorrow. Love that you went with a Bretonnian design. Great for general use, D&D, Old World Warhammer but also since 'The Realms' in AoS are made of fragments, it would be great to think that it's an echo of the old world. Still hoping the Bretonnians one day make the jump... even though I'm a Seraphon player. As far as other requests go, there's a few things I'd love to see more people do. One being ancient jungle ruins of Aztec, Incan & Mayan style, one being more far Eastern designs, Samurai temples & such... but the main one being modern day city pieces. I see a lot of post apocalyptic 40k, or Walking Dead style stuff, lots of futuristic cities, Star Wars, Cyberpunk or Steampunk terrain but aside from the occasional bit if scatter terrain, I see very few people creating functioning wargaming terrain set in a present day cityscape. I bring this up because one of the games I play is Marvel: Crisis Protocol (Which is awesome by the way & if you like Marvel or skirmish objective based games you. should totally check it out) & obviously while there are many great alien worlds & fantasy realms within Marvel comics, nothing quite matches the look of seeing Spider-Man zipping around Times Square, or Iron Man & Captain America fighting off Ultron robots outside The Avengers Tower, etc. At the risk of giving you too many requests, or monopolising your time, these requests are more general suggestions, as opposed to my desperate need for advice on the stained glass window but thought I may as well mention them in case anything takes your fancy. Plus it gives you an excuse to play around with LED's & stuff, should you find the itch to do so :P But anyway, thanks again dude, this video is fantastic & it's a great piece. :D
I definitely have plans to make abit of jungle terrain eventually. And I do like making 40k stuff/modern buildings. So I expect I'll touch on that sometime soon 👍🏻🙂 you're welcome for the window advice and thanks for watching 😀
Excellent build! Love the colour of the glass and the detail, adding variety. And as always, the tiny stuff here and there, giving the piece so much character.
I know exactly what you mean, but the viewer who wanted me to make it, requested that the window be intact 🙂 I could have cut some sections out to make it look broken
Honestly, it's the most annoying thing ever 😅 I live close to a road, and theirs constantly massive trucks driving up and down. I have to sort of time the takes with low traffic 😅
You can attach your thumb pressed brick maker to a thick wooden dowel and tap it with a hammer. It would speed up the work and save your hands. Amazing build! Love your videos!
i really like that brick-pattern technique! have you experimented with a sharpened edge on the plastic box? im thinking of making a metal piece that's similar but sharper.
Excellent build Could you use some painter’s tape on the window to protect it while you’re painting around it? If you get paint on it, you could just break that part off to exemplify the obvious looting that took place after the explosion.
You probably could, but honestly it would have been fairly fiddley to apply it neatly 😅 I'd rather just take the extra time being careful with a smaller brush around the window 🙂
Outstanding! The only thing I would have done differently is have some of the glass “panels” broken off the window. Keep up those incredible builds, specially the outdoor pieces.
It's just a piece of rectangular styrene rod, you can buy them in craft shops 😬 really anything rigid, harder than foam, and correctly sized should do the trick 👍🏻 thanks for watching
Fantastic work Alan. I just made my first building after watching most of your videos and the scale seems a little off. The building seems a little on the large size. What size should the walls be ?
Scale is very tricky when it comes to tabletop terrain. If one really thinks about it, buildings would be much larger scale-wise than we make them. However doors and windows need to remain scale appropriate for the minis you're using otherwise they'll look weird when next to eachother. That being said, I would say a typical floor height should be between 2 and 3 inches. And there's no right height for walls of chapels, just use a miniature for size comparison throughout your build 🙂👍🏻
It's a nice build, but the pristean stain glass window throws it off a bit. It should have shown the ravages of time too. Hole's in the window and broken shards on the alter. IMO.
I use a couple of different things, mostly just an off cut of styrene rod. But anything that's harder than foam, and in the shape you want will work fine. Have a look around your house for cool "imprinting" tools 🙂👍🏻 hope that helps abit
I can also see the projector sheets technique being used in sci fi terrain, to indicate signs or computer displays. Works better if you can see both sides, so light can shine through. Or if you incorporate some sort of electric light fixture into the terrain, like tea lights.
Honestly, I find that neat PVA is enough to keep it on the terrain. But if wasn't happy with it, I would probably use scenic cement by woodland scenics
Hello my friend, Can you please confirm to me the material used to do the stained glass window? As english is not my native language, sometimes I struggle to understand some words. Thanks, always love your ideas, creativity and inspiration. Edit: got it! Acetate sheet and then print it in a laser ink printer? 😅
Just to clarify do NOT use a laser jet printer. It will melt the acetate sheet. Use an ink jet printer. The one I used is just a simple Canon model ink jet home printer
Thanks, Which material are you referring to? The window material is called acetate, it can be bought on eBay or Amazon. Search A4 inkjet acetate sheets, and be sure to use an inkjet printer to print your design 👍🏻
Hi 🙂 I just used normal joint filler/wall filler/joint compound/polyfiller. It had many names depending on where you're from. It's nothing fancy though, just the cheap stuff from a DIY store 🙂👍🏻
This is more than tabletop terrain. This is freaking artwork.
Much appreciated 😅 you're too kind. Relatively easy to make as well 🙂

Awesome as always! I love the little mummy, such a great little detail!

This is an outstanding piece. The small details you do, such as the leaning candle stick, gives the projects a very nice touch. Keep it up!!

Thanks a lot. Going to have a go at the chapel this week. 👍
Sorry, I've just seen this comment.
I'd love to see the results you got 🙂 share it with me on Instagram if you like.
I love this piece. My only criticism is the level of deterioration the piece has undergone yet the stained glass is pristine.

Brilliant! Every video I get some new tip, trick, tool, or technique. Well met.

Thanks very much 🙂
That came out really nice. Great trick with the printed ohp sheet
I have zero artistic skill 😅👍🏻so printing seems the logical choice
Excellent piece. Love the details you added in. The open sarcophagus with the mummified body is a nice touch.
Cheers 😬👍🏻 undetailed terrain can look bland in my opinion. I like to add little human touches to give character

How did you make the thin bits of foam? (For the wall corners and coffin?) Great model!😊
I used a proxon hotwire table to slice thicker bits into thinner bits 🙂 thanks for your question, and thanks for watching

What do you use to seal the flocking? Isopropyl alcohol ? Or watered down glue?
