"I like to mimic guitar because it's the only way I can even try to be cool in a guitar dominated world." lol! So true. Whenever I'm playing with a band, I always have to adjust my playing style on the keyboard to suit guitars. Always. Guitars win at the end, I guess. 😂
Connect a Minimoog with an overdriven Marshall amp....It´s the thickest tone ever..! Guitarplayer can`t compete with that thickness ! ...not even with a Les Paul--Marshall combination !
This is wonderful. I'm completely new to Arch Echo and Joey's work, having come from being mostly a Dream Theater fan, so I'm loving what I'm hearing and if anything, these guys are even more complete as musicians.
Ya see, I *would* book a lesson, but what you've given me here is going to take me at least a year to digest and practice. See you in 2019! (by the way, your skills are insane)
You'll have to forgive my ignorance here, I'm not a keys player and I barely know enough about the instrument to do much besides basic chord shapes and scales. Is Izzo on a level y'all would consider to be exceptional? Or is this just what a good keyboardist plays/sounds like, and my experience with them is just lackluster?
Hey ConxurOz! Glad you liked the video!! The sheet music for the lesson is on Joey's profile on Lessonface, in the curriculum section - Lessonface.com/JoeyIzzo
I'd like to get to the point where I could just feel the keys and play the note I want, like being able to touch type what I want to say on a computer keyboard. These might be great tips, but over my rookie head. Impressive performance skills though. I can tell that much
TCNG nope , its not the same .its not where you start the scale . Its all about the emphasis of the notes that makes the flavor of the mode in that case its the +4. You can start in any note you want and still its lydian .
Fair point haha. For context I was teaching a part of the solo in Hip Dipper that's over an A chord. I didn't explain that so it's understandably silly sounding haha.
he's got a "Mo"!, and an XF08 at that! i've drooled over that board many a time at guitar center. sadly it's a $3000 board and i couldn't get financed. F my life... i would settle for an XF08 sound pack.
I been learning the keyboard for 6 month. I switched to a weighted hammer action 2 weeks ago and I already got repetitive stress Injury in my left forearm and some left fingers. I'm thinking of quitting piano all together and using a none weighted synth action synthesizer. Is a synthesizer forgiving on bad keyboard hand techniques? I want to play long hours and just compose music without these injuries.
Dude …. At minute 1 how do you do that technique where your after touch makes an octave up fade in …. I have a Korg Krome ex and for the life of me can’t figure out the work flow to do that ….. doesn’t matter what synth I have but like what is the ams for that … aftertouch usually modulated pitch , amp , or filter ….. are you modulating a limiter or somthing ?
Ar 5:50 or so...ehen you sat rhis link, and frame tou jands. There Is NO Link Bisible. Rhis Bideo is over 5y old yet tou still javent fix d it. YET.🤔🤔🤔🤔 🤬🤬🤬🤬🎹

For me (personally) Joey is one of the best musicians I've heard so far
I completely relate with that statement!
That's a good lead! reminds me to Jordan Rudess Lead
Joey Izzo is definitely one of the best keyboardists in the world!
That was killer advice, and I’ve been playing keyboards in a band for over 20 years. Changing my pitch bend to -12 now
Very cool to see somebody giving lessons on this seemingly obscure topic. Thanks!

Function over form.
Joy Richardson Gibson declared bankruptcy. Soon keyboards will rule the world of rock
We're getting our revenge with keytars

I seem to be the only one trying to sound like a keyboard on my guitar. Man, i can tell you, i have a really hard time!
This dude is absolutely insane. As a guitarist, he is way cooler than I'll ever be :)
This man is a truly beast!!!
any guitarists here to learn how to mimic keyboard players because it’s the only way I can be cool in the jazz fusion world?
This is wonderful. I'm completely new to Arch Echo and Joey's work, having come from being mostly a Dream Theater fan, so I'm loving what I'm hearing and if anything, these guys are even more complete as musicians.
Hey im just like you i mean an old dream theater fan (still am)
one of the best emerging stars, Mr. Izzo
Fantastic! Great demonstrations and very good explanations!
Daaaaammnnn how could i missed this 3 years ago !!!!
two young musicians just tearin shit up. i love it
very helpful, thanks!
Such an awesome guy, and an insaaaaane keyboard player
Ya see, I *would* book a lesson, but what you've given me here is going to take me at least a year to digest and practice. See you in 2019! (by the way, your skills are insane)
Wish I could learn more from Joey about this
Hi, you can learn more from Joey by signing up for lessons with him at lessonface.com/joeyizzo

3:35 THAT HURTS. (yeah, i'm a keyboardist too...)
Same, its the sad truth
Helped me within 15 minutes thank you
Fffffuuuk this is golden, and izzo is a keygod! I wish i could play as good as him
Obrigado pelas dicas. São excelentes !
@5:00 been looking for some both hand solo techniques. Nailed it.
Thank you So much Bro. Love from India. God bless
Really helpful. I had this doubts and I'm confused a lot bt now I'm satisfied in your explanation...tq very much
Will Adam ever be doing guitar lessons?
Thanks, this helped me with my audio engineering class. 👌
Get you a keetar, man. Those have been so cool.since the 80s lol
love your playing, great touch and feel
This is gold and Arch Echo are awesome!

He's a good keyboardist
If he were a youtube shred guitarist he'd be pretty average, with the exception of his knowledge and application of modes.
Yall betta play!
Where are the PDFs?
Awesome. Similar to what Jordan Rudess is doing with his pitch bend.
0:37 when your harmony so tight it makes the room wobble
wheres your headband
Great stuff!!
Where I get the sheet? Link is broke!
By the way, one of the best videos ever seen about soloing!
Greetings from Colombia!
Hey ConxurOz! Glad you liked the video!! The sheet music for the lesson is on Joey's profile on Lessonface, in the curriculum section - Lessonface.com/JoeyIzzo
8:07
If you book a lesson...

Lead perfect!!!
Grea6t stuff! Thanks!
Amazinggggg
Guitar player here wanting to do this on synth because synth lead sounds so damned cool lol.
Amazing!!!
I like this video
So cool
I'd like to get to the point where I could just feel the keys and play the note I want, like being able to touch type what I want to say on a computer keyboard. These might be great tips, but over my rookie head. Impressive performance skills though. I can tell that much
You are a very god pianist. Very Jel
4:04 that is exactly what I was looking for, cause i am trash with the pitch bend.
I am here to see joey izzo after watching steve t and vincent song "rebounding"
😵👏👏👏fantastic 🤘🤘🤘🎸
🤙
3:49 what scale is that??
its regular Bb minor or dorian (he doesn't play the sixth), he's just using really cool note choices !
Hey Joey ! would you be able to give me the patch for this lead sound (eletric guitar sound) ? many thanks
great! where's the pdf tho?
"Here it is slow."
Me: That's NOT full speed??
tell me more about your lead sound synth in this example, au plugins used? motif + mainstage sound?
Where's the link lol?
Hi joey, thanks for video... which motif and massive sound selected by you
A lydian starting in E?
So... like, E major?
TCNG nope , its not the same .its not where you start the scale . Its all about the emphasis of the notes that makes the flavor of the mode in that case its the +4. You can start in any note you want and still its lydian .
Depends on the underlying harmony I suppose...
Fair point haha. For context I was teaching a part of the solo in Hip Dipper that's over an A chord. I didn't explain that so it's understandably silly sounding haha.
"here it is slow"
I would not consider that slow 👀😂😂
sorry to hear you broke your leg. hope ur brothers footage is good enough for a reimbursement
i have ADHD i cannot focus because i cannot keep my self from seeing the dust on the knobs :( :( :( :( but i love the technique and the sound
he's got a "Mo"!, and an XF08 at that! i've drooled over that board many a time at guitar center. sadly it's a $3000 board and i couldn't get financed. F my life... i would settle for an XF08 sound pack.
Yeah but... can you clean the keyboard please?
Thanks! I am not the only one disturbed by that haha
@@Mehdouud One more here! :D
I want to learn modes. where do I start from? what do I do?
Beast

Joey I love you
hi very JR type of sound, please can you tell me how to create it just with vst on pc (no mac...)
How come such a GREAT synth player only got to play with a guy who has a guitar that is incomplete?
5:40 - 5:43 :3
Great song with this synthesizer but it's so big to play I prefer ax synth 47
Do you mind if I use some samples from this video for some beats?
HOW DO I MAKE THE WAWAWA SYNTH
OK I give up - how do you setup the synth to do a full step bend up and an octave on the down?
Mark Zuckerberg on guitar :D
I wish i could play chord or melody or lead with my midi controller like you did instead of drawing it on ableton
4:20 it's like teminite sounds
Wow..
What genre
prog metal/ jazz fusion kinda stuff
which patch are you using..??
Wow... :o
You're a keyboardist
in a guitar world. Which is OK. I guess.
8:38 so what modes is he using? anybody know?
mostly dorian, ionian and lydian i think
Ar 5:50 or so...ehen you sat rhis link, and frame tou jands. There Is NO Link Bisible. Rhis Bideo is over 5y old yet tou still javent fix d it. YET.🤔🤔🤔🤔
