  • AA Ireland spoke to Colm Hanratty of SixTwo Digital about his new ‪@kia-ireland‬ #EV6. This is one of the most sought-after new #EVs on the Irish market. So what made Colm choose an EV in the first place and what made him go for the Kia? Colm talks Paddy Comyn through his decisions and gives some advice to would-be EV owners.

    Love my EV6. It’s a great drive, looks great and incredibly well specified whether you go for the Earth or the GT line model.
    Still waiting for my home charger but that won’t be long now.

    My only gripe would be some of the controls are buried in the menus eg seat heaters, which means taking your eyes off the road. I think this is one of the better EVs out there and the 800v architecture is very forward thinking. Hope that Ireland invests in the charging infrastructure to help promote the sale of more EVs.

      The EV6 is literally onw of the most button-heavy EV's on the market. Everything on steering wheel, door panels and central armrest/console are buttons. Only shortcut buttons for infortainment or climate are. (Except for seat heating and wheel heating which also happen to be buttons)
      Meanwhile ID.4/ID.5 is missing backlight for basic stuff like climate controls. Impossible to control when its dark lol.

    With newer long distance vehicles like the EV6 it’s not really range anxiety anymore, It’s charge anxiety. My EV6 is a dream car, I love it but, mine does suffer from this pre-heating issue. Even after the recent software updates. It’s not a hardware problem as I do get heat when the vehicle is powered on, just not before. Also, Lidl for the win! 26p a kW and they’re everywhere. I even don’t mind going in for bakery treats and spending 30-40 minutes relaxing while charging up.

    • @r0ut366
      @r0ut366 2 года назад +1

      It is, but the truth is CUV doesn't really mean anything anymore. Like its Ionic 5 first cousin, the EV6 is really just a big hatchback but there's no TLA for that - BHB anyone? Regardless, I like the look.

    We had an absolutely terrible trip to northern ireland. The charging is free up there and all the charge points were occupied ALL the time. Nightmare. Ended up in Clearwater Finglas with hardly any miles left. Anybody in South Dublin want to buy a KIA EV6, drop me a line. €55000 with no waiting list.

      He's not in the UK. He's in Ireland, and can get to any part of the country he likes without topup charging. In some cases he'd need a topup to get home. But with that great range he'll pass many chargers on any day's journey.
