I hybrid this in my Yonex Ezone 100 with natural gut in the mains at 53 lbs and Confidential in the crosses at 51. I love this set up so far and it holds tension well even after about 20 hours of play.

How long does the string last, especially the natural gut? Also, what’s your NTRP rating?
      Thanks

I played with Hyper G 16, which has been my go to string for the past 2.5 years in a variety of racquets (17 gauge for Prince 93P 18x20, 16 gauge for 93P 14x18 and PCG 100 16x18). It's a great string for spin, and quite comfortable on the arm for a poly. Tons of spin, but the downside is that it can be a bit unpredictable and the spin can be excessive to the expense of shot penetration. Just switched to Confidential 16 in my PCG 100 after trying it. I find it a bit more predictable than Hyper G, and get more penetration on my shots. It's still early days, but I like this string a lot. I did not notice much difference in terms of comfort, and the TW data backs this (stiffness of 222 for Confidential vs. 219 for Hyper G in 16 gauge). I have tried Tour Bite (too powerful and still), Revolution (too dead), Hyper G (great spin / somewhat unpredictable) and so far Confidential is my favorite string from Solinco. They've done a great job with it.

@@Bambotb Depends on the frame and how you hit. In a tight pattern. 1.20mm is great, but in open pattern 1.30mm is better for me as I would break the 1.20mm far too quickly.

Appreciate the review. Sounds like a string I should try. For the videos, please consider adding some more perspectives like hitting overheads, more volleys, and mid court inside-in and inside-out shots. There's only so much we can see center baseline. But overall very happy with your content as a patreon subscriber. You've saved me lots of money by cutting through the manufacturer's hype and providing objective reviews.

I agree tensions hold very well. Solid control and spin. I had on a 16/19 Dunlop aerogel 500 tour racket. Nice feel solid as it contact with the ball. My only down side it hurt your elbow a bite. It is not soft as you think. Bottom line solid good power for baseline hitter.

First of all, I always stop by to hear your opinion. Congrats to you for putting together a channel with tennis educational content.I just ordered two packs of this string and will try with my yonex ezone 98+ @48lbs. I have played with hyper G string before and that's my I am curious to try this one.

Great review. I've been using a hybrid of Solinco Tour bite soft and Prince duraflex both 17g and I love the soft feel and feel back of this set up. I may give these New strings a try sometime.. ( when the lockdown in asia stops )

Excellent review - thank you Jonas.
Just about to string up my Yonex 97 HD with Kirshbaum Evolution (48lbs); a string I've never tried before.
There's always the issue of using and enjoying a few strings and then trying strings not tested before. And of course with any different string, there's the possibility of tension preferred with 1 string, may not be ideal for another.
    Cheers. 🎾🎾🎾

Just because you’re “swinging out” and the ball is going in, doesn’t mean you’re hitting it big. When I play guys that use low powered polyester, I notice that they swing big, but the ball comes slow. Also, their volley game suffers from lack of touch and punch, so I will just hit low and bait them in a lot.

I loved this string initially, but found the tension drop and loss of control to be somewhat extreme. I like Black widow. Maybe It just plays deader, but has that nice soft and plush feel without too much power. I found the confidential to be quite powerful.

I read that you must string it for how you want it after the initial breakin of about an hour, then it will hold good for longer than most at that broke in level... sound right folks?

I've played tennis in high school and on a college team. It's now 10 years since I've hit and these Confidential strings are the only one that helped me get back into it the most. Everything other strings I've tried would fly everywhere. I was so frustrated that I was about to give up but then I gave these strings a shot and I am very satisfied that most of my hits are going in. It's no where like before but I have very full swings on my backhand, forehand and even my serves. It was extremely hard to get the ball back in since my rhythm is horrendous still. I really like how these strings feel and how they grab the ball. I used to use lower powered, control rackets when I hit every day and these strings definitely offer that control that I need. It feels great being able to have a full swing again; I find that this feels better for me and it keeps my form consistent.

Excellent string review. Could you please look at Genesis Hexonic string? Genesis Black Magic gets all the attention, but Hexonic is very underrated. It has many of the characteristics you describe in Solinco Confidential at a lower price point. Another hidden gem is Tourna Big Hitter Blue Rough. Good feel and control for another under the radar string. If you want a super control oriented string with great spin, try Volkl V-square. Thanks for all you do.
