Thank you for the honesty at 1:08, if you don't have $50k down, you aren't ready to own multiple trucks. That is really solid advice.

Here is the real deal : Win the lotto. Take the money and buy a large car and trailer. Go trucking... UNTIL... you run out of money. (Buy a second truck if you want to speed things up.)

Interesting to hear that you're opening up a yard in Atlanta. That's about an hour away from me, so might think about applying once I've got my 2 years of experience.

I agree Ronen... I am currently planning to do this within my current carrier I'm signed on with ...for just starting out ..the savings on insurance and network we share is invaluable to a startup. I always go over the numbers and projections and it just makes better sense to start out with the safety net . 💯 Partnering up like this is against alot of guys' pride factor . FOR ME, I see how much it can protect and potentially save my business from unforseen disasters. ALSO, having a plug of their dealership allows me to get equipment and financing if needed whenever I need another truck with walkway leases (fee involved) if anything doesn't work out ... no bank financing can offer this .

Could you elaborate on your reasoning of NOT opening an authority until you reach 5 trucks? Me and my wife bought our truck and trailer a year ago, at that same time got our authority. We have been very successful so far. We keep our overhead low and our revenue is high. We want to buy a second truck with 50% down as you mentioned and a trailer caah and still have 50k in Reserves. If you would got into more detail about the authority it would be great! Appreciate all the insight.

I used to be a truck driver; I left the industry, but I'm entertaining the idea of buying a truck and starting a side business to grow. I'm not interested in driving the truck myself. Do you think something like that could bring in enough profit to be worth the investment?

I'm curious. What does "pay for all your on road expenses" mean? Do carriers pay for fuel or is that something you would have to negotiate?

I drive a 2019 Kenworth T680 and I can't get 8.5 mpg unless i'm bobtailing. Otherwise it's around 6.8 when I have a dry van with only like... 15k-20k lbs loaded on it. I don't know how he's getting 8.5. My truck is an aerodynamic daycab by the way. I wouldn't know how you get 8.5 hauling anything loaded unless you're hauling an empty van with a deleted truck

As long as you don't plan on going to California, you're better off buying an old truck and financing an out of frame engine rebuild. That's just my opinion though.
