I doubt it. Whilst it's dramatic to have a trusted NPC turn on the party, it gets stale if you do it too often and the paranoia that comes with that can stop your players interacting with the world. I wouldn't put it past Mark to have another Brookstone up his sleeve, but I think he understands his DM craft enough to not just throw them in every time there's a chance for it. TL;DR - I think Thalia is best medusa gal and is unlikely to have a betrayal planned.
2:46:15 - It's been my experience that people like to bitch about "railroading" any time the players don't have _total absolute control_ over *everything.* A player at a convention one-shot I played in accused the DM of railroading after his character (level 4 rogue) attacked the King _in the throne room_ and was overpowered and arrested by his royal guard (8 level 12 fighters led by a level 14 paladin). A different player in a different game started a fire and was shocked, _shocked_ I say, when the DM "railroaded the game" when the fire spread in a different way than he'd intended. It's like accusing Tolkien of railroading when Gandalf rocks into Helm's Deep with Erkenbrand and a thousand Rohirrim, or when the Nazis show up to capture Indiana Jones and steal the Ark of the Covenant. What so many people need to understand is that oftentimes, in order to facilitate the narrative of the game, certain things will need to happen. The Unexpectables even addressed this a couple episodes ago on their show: Monty is an absolutely _phenomenal_ DM (seriously one of the best), and the players are _loving_ the game and the current storyline, but there are a few viewers who are all "ohh nooo, she's _railroading_ them," and they responded "no, we're enjoying the everloving _shit_ out of this plot, it's awesome, shut up" (that's paraphrased, of course). 2:54:37 - "I will grant you one wish." "I wish that everything written on this sheet of paper was true."
