I so appreciate the attention to detail in the sound design and music timing when showing us the cinematic aftermath. It really does feel impactful and I know it takes a huge amount of work to do. Thank you!
I was a Forward Air Controller in Vietnam, flying Birddogs. I have seen many B52 strikes go in. The simulation does not do justice enough to the power of one of those strikes. Just amazing to watch-and very grateful I was not down there on the receiving end!
Man, no one ever really thinks about the cost of war. Like, those B-52s can carry something like 80klbs worth of ordinance at an average of about $10k per 1000lb bomb and it looked like there was about 15 of them so roughly about $12mil for that bombing run alone (not including the costs of each plane). Then on the bombee's side, that was a significantly sized base with something like 25-30 Mig 21's and what looked like maybe a handful of Mig-29s (we'll say 10). Mig-21's are surprisingly cheap, I think they're around $500k each so that's $15 mil roughly for those and then Mig-29s are roughly $20mil each so that's $200,000,000, and that's not including the costs of rebuilding that airfield. Almost a quarter of a billion dollars all lost at ONE airbase.
@@wicked-w7l But airframe value deprecates over time. The MiG-21 is over 60 years old and 3 generations out of date. $500k is actually overstating it - a quick google search turns up an article that says ~$250k, and apparently a Chinese guy recently bought one for _$25k._
GS did a video like that a while back when he had a BVR in a Su-27 against a F-16. Altogether, a single engagement cost nearly $38 million between the U.S. and Russian.
I used to live near Wright Patterson Air Force base in Ohio. Lots of cool aircraft coming and going - but one day a flight of 3x B52's cruised over my area. Still to this very day has to be one of the scariest and most impressive things I've ever seen. The sound was haunting.

Express demolition services, courtesy of the United States Air Force! I love that you always include some extra story footage in videos like the close up impacts of the HARMs, the scrambling MiG-21s, and the process of converting an air base into the Holey Land.
So much freedom delivered by those B-52’s! These videos always make me wish I had joined the Air Force like I originally planned. Oh well, too late now
Much love as always GS. I respect the consistency of your uploads dude, I ALWAYS have a new video to watch at work. Just wanted to say good job and keep up the good work❤
I love this display of the Hornet's capabilities, sweet video dude. Are you looking to do a high AoA fight with the Hornet after the flight model updates? I'm keen to know your thoughts on the changes.
A more likely BUFF formation would be three cells of three in trail, ensuring the entire airfield complex is covered from end to end. Remember, an Arc Light strike of three B-52s could saturate an area the length and width of the Mall in Washington, DC, from the Washington Monument to the Capitol.
4:25 How are aircraft RWRs able to tell the difference between different radar signatures? Like at the time stamp, the RWR clearly shows the SA6, but earlier in the video it clearly differentiates the SA5. And a follow up question, why don't SAMs use backup or dummy radars to confuse missiles like HARMs?

I've been doing that F-16 SEAD mission you put out a while ago. I have managed to take out the SAMs and the fighters and make it home alive, but HOLY CRAP I am terrible at keeping visual on enemy aircraft once they get close.
ya, thats one of those things that will just improve over time, don't get worked up about it. Eventually your brain starts to learn where to look for them.

he was killed at the start

I am loving these bomber missions. Boss energy having 16 BUFFS making it rain steel! Hornet is a jack of all trades. Love that jet.
I love how Habitual Linecrosser's characters have entered the vernacular. Love Grandpa Buff!
That's one reason I love the F-22 videos. It's nice to think that at least in the GS universe, The Kid is getting plenty of action.
now, add a carrier and a tanker on your way into the AO and you have a all-in-one Hornet training mission 😃👍
I just love this aircraft!

MiG-21s were 2mil in 1974 which is 12mil today, so it would be 360mil dollars worth of fishbeds.

Got to hear a real B52 strike in Vietnam in 1970. 54 years later I can still "hear" that sound.

Does the SA5/SA6 have any kind of RWR to alert them as to when a HARM is incoming at them?
I don’t believe so, but they can probably see the missile on radar. And of course assumptions would be made.
The hornet really is a beautiful aircraft. If they had given it a little more powerful engines, maybe it would be the best fighter ever built
Would a HARM be able to lock onto a slow moving aircraft's radar?
