Lightly dusting my forehead, jawline, across my nose and my eyes (the 80's/90's method you described) with what's left on my blush brush is something i've done for as long as I can remember. It really brings life to my fair, ( and now) very mature skin and is the perfect last touch without compromising any other aspect of my makeup. I hope you'll demonstrate it in future looks and encourage people to give it a try. When you find the perfect blush color this method is a game changer! Thanks for the tips and tricks!

This is actually the first beauty related video that made me feel like I learned something! I had a revelation this week that a peach lip would look amazing on me, even though I always thought it would be too warm for me. With my pale skin, golden light brown hair and green eyes it looks so good! The mauve I used to wear for years just pales in comparison… It made me realize I should probably change my blush as well :-).

I have listened to different makeup artists who didn't talk about how they choose the eyeshadows. I am so glad you addressed this because I don't know what color of eye shadow or lipsticks to choose and now I know, I don't have to use a cool tone eyeshadow even if my makeup is cool toned. I was told that I am cool tone by a makeup artist that I saw in person and also someone at Ulta told me that but I think I am neutral. I look good wearing gold and silver and I burn, I don't tan which indicates cool tone maybe. Anyway, my dad was a red head with light blue eyes and medium skin and my mom was cool toned dark skin, hair and eyes. I am light skinned with medium eye blue green hazel gold eyes. I am so excited to try different shades of blush too. I have been undecided on lip color and blush color. Thank you for this video. I might enjoy playing with makeup colors once again.

Hi Elle! I am way more confused than ever! I have light skin with very dark hair and greenish/hazel eyes. I think I have warm undertones but I do see green and blue veins on my wrist, so maybe I’m neutral. I JUST DON’T KNOW!! Could you just suggest one blush I should wear? I have a lot of blushes at home and when you say, just wear whatever makes you feel good, there are no rules LOL; I have no idea, when playing around with what I own, what looks good and what looks bad. Maybe they all look good?? Maybe they all look bad?? I’m so lost Elle!!!

    • @theradiantgal3431
      @theradiantgal3431 5 лет назад +1

I feel you. I am warm even though I have blue veins. I found my undertones after months of struggling. Some methods I would recommend are using a white piece of paper or if you have a towel, compare your skin to the white colour. If your skin (not the face because it will always have redness) looks pink, you are cool. If it looks yellow, you are warm. Another test I would recommend is wearing different colours and see how it enhances your skin. For me, a warm mustard yellow shirt makes my skin glow, but a cool icy blue washes me out. This could be vice versa if you are cool. Hope this helped

Certainly better for the expert to reply, but I have very pink cheeks which flush at times- not as severe as rosacea of course. I wear sheer foundations with slightly yellow tones to neutralize the red, which gives a neutral canvas that allows more blush options. I would say knowing that the red will come through during the day, more nude tones look nice to give some color. Hope that helps a little?

So sorry for the delay it takes me a min to get back to everyone. this is a great question. I am doing a who series on rosacea. Everything from skincare to makeup. but speaking in general terms I don't love to use a pink blush in this situation since you don't need to add more. What I do is focus on the bronzer and then use a nude tone blush. Try the one from tarte that I talked about. Let me know how you get on

I have a very fair, cool-toned, 'Winter' complexion with brown hair, and eyes.I wear roses, mauves, cool pinks, lavenders, reds, and fuchsia blush colours when I wear the same shades on my lips. For example, when I wear a cool, blue-toned red lipstick, I wear a cool-toned red blush. Cool-toned blush colours accentuate the blue undertones of my skin, and they match, and compliment the 'Winter' palette of my wardrobe, jewellery, and accessories. This palette includes cool jewel tones, primary colours, true white, black, and ice tones, but not pastels. I could never wear warm peach, 'neutral', brown, or orange blushes! Those shades would be warm, and opposite to the undertones of my complexion. I had colour analysis done when I was in my early twenties. It has really helped me to only purchase the best, flattering cool-toned 'Winter' shades, tones, and colours of make up, clothing, jewellery, and accessories that will compliment my complexion, Sherrey🎀

  • @robinlawson7441

I found this so helpful. I was looking for a blush last month, but I found a good palette from Lorac at Sephora that I wasn't expecting to like, but I LOVE it for the variety of looks I can get from the 4 blushes and 2 highlights. It's called Shine Bright Color Source and Light Source Cheek Pallette. I was using Milani's Romantic Rose but it broke, and I wanted something that I could travel with and not worry about it cracking.
I think I'm neutral. My veins on my wrists are more green, but there are times where they are blue (or blue green). My face has some red, but kinda yellow, too. I tend to look better in warmer shades on my eyes, but if I work at it, I can pull off a cool toned look; I just have to add in a tiny pop of warm to make it look "right" - like you were saying about lip color. And OMG lip color - nude and coral-nude shades look AWFUL on me. My "nude" your lips but better is more of a dusty rose, pinky-nude, though I feel best in a medium berry shade. All to say...am I a warm, cool, or neutral? It's hard! 😂

Such a great & informative video Elle! Love it!! Glad I’ve been reaching for the correct kind of tones for my skin. Hubby thinks I’m more blue undertones, however I think I’m more neutral lol so jury is still kinda out there I guess. I tend to think corals look best on me? Even clothing... oranges and corals... but some pinks look pretty too. I can’t do light pastel colours for clothing tho... it makes me look pale and sick I think. Brighter tones seem to look better. And when I reach for a red lipstick? It has to have some orange in it for me to look red. If it’s a blue red? It looks pink on me.

  • @andreasanford8814

Your blush tips are so helpful. Blush can bring so much youth and vibrance to the face. I am very fair and have a lot of red and pink in my face, pinks tend to disappear unless it is a brighter color. I really love Stila convertible color in Petunia as it is a coral color, I get lots of compliments on it, it enhances my blue eyes too. Lilium is my other Stila cream blush go to, a browny pink nude perfect when I'm wearing more muted tones. I bought both of Stilas blush palettes to figure out my favorites. I have been wearing Tulip, a berry color, the last few days and love it on the apples on my cheeks as it looks like Ive been outside in this winter weather. Berry or purple colors tend to look like a bruise so I have to be careful and use sparingly. Thank you Elle! I hope to get RMS lip2cheek in Smile, another coral, with giftcard soon.

well olive is warm undertone so when I say warm that is what I mean. I would love to see your wrist because if you have olive skin tone I could bet you are warm or neutral/warm xo

Alecia Leno-Kim YES! Never enough information about olive skin tones, especially really fair olive skin tones. Things like NARS Orgasm that’s supposed to look good on everyone looks like pink mud on me. 🤢 You just literally have to try everything cause you just never know.

I’m light to medium and recently discovered I’m olive undertones. Have previously thought yellow undertones yet don’t look great in warm colors. Look best in neutral pinks I think. Even some cooler pinks. One of the best blushes I’ve used is shy by ELF. Do you have some suggestions for olive undertones

As someone who loves to wear bright cool toned clothes (light blue, mint green etc) I realized I must be cool toned in my skin. I am very fair and have redness in my face. I got confused because I always felt like, because warm toned clothing doesn’t suit me (red washes me out), I should choose cool pink blush instead of warm peachy blushes. I figured there was more blue cool tones in the pink one than the peach one… Now I realize I need to choose the peach blush, otherwise I am just adding red to my face? 😅
…. It does explain why I looove peach lipstick and never would go for a pink or red! I feel dumb…

This was very helpful. I often wondered why cooler blushes looked better on me even though I’m warm. I’m fair (about a shard or two lighter than you depending on time of year), but very warm. My veins are very green lol. So sometimes it’s very confusing for me and hard to find shades that work, since most fair skinned products are aimed at cooler tones. In fact, it’s really hard to find foundation. But this helped clear up that confusion I had about cool blushes. Thanks!!

Also I love using my blush as my eye shadow. In fact that’s all I wore for years lol. I just sweep it in my cheeks and eye lids. Super fast and easy. Had a women stop me once in a store to ask what my eye shadow was! She was floored when I told her it was just my blush lol ;)

I am a true neutral, btwn fair & light. I have always preferred a type of nude plum (which I didnt hear you address?). Is it no longer in vogue, or would it b considered the purple one you mentioned in the Hourglass palette? There is a Laura Geller baked blush called Chandalier Glow that's the best I've found so far. Neutrogena used to have a loose powder blush in packaging with it's own applicator brush attached, so you'd slide the cover down & the blush would come up from the base of the brush. They dont make it anymore, but, that was a warmer nude plum that I still pull out in the summer when I get a little bit of color. Btw, my natural cheek flush is a darker beet color. Any add'l suggestions?

Happy New Year! First off.....thank you for holding off on the color wheel.... ooof....I’ll never understand that thing. I’ve heard that you should match your crease, blush, and lipstick...I’ve tried but there is no time in the AM to match and coordinate. I think I’m just going to pick up a few of the universals you recommended. I was just curious if you’ve heard the same.

Very informative video. ♥️♥️ Do you believe in using a color wheel if you want your eye color to pop. I have green eyes and know that purple and blue are the cross colors for green. I have never tried blue on my eyes, not something I have ever ventured towards, but ♥️♥️ purple. Just wondered your thoughts on that. ♥️♥️♥️ I am a neutral girl and always stick to neutral colors, but wondering if I need to venture out more. 🤔 Love you and all your wonderful advise, you make us more beautiful😘😘
