That's a TT QS - it's the only mk1 TT that's worth proper money. You'd be daft to sell it. It will appreciate more than the annual insurance hike. Keep the car off the road in the winter, you can tax it a month at a time.
Just had a denim blue 225 coupe. 2004 104k fsh. Bought £2000 proper machine. But tax £35 per month, insurance £40 per month fuel, 180 full tank. Christ it hard on fuel. And prices just not going up. So sold it for £2000. 😢
Insured my 225 mk1 roadster with my 2008 sri Astra under a multicar policy for £800 this March. Used to pay £180 for the year for the TT and £450 for the Astra It is what it is right now.
It may well rise, but they also have to be careful - if it rises too high, they risk losing so much business because it can't just rise forever - the market will speak. There will come a point where they start trying to undercut one another again so prices will have to reduce.
Natalie actually insured all my vehicles for me. I have 5 4 I insured last year for sub 1k pa I’ve just added a cayenne s and that has cost me more then the other 4 to insure…tt 225 heavily modded costs me 230 for the year 17 years NCB 41yo
im keeping my mk1 225. love the car would like to do some more mods but its 20 years old 90k mileage still like brand new but i dont want to continue to put miles on it so i drive a honda as a daily beater but i want something newer and modern but dont want to spend anything crazy i dont know what to get. a mk3 tts or a mk7.5 golf r is what im thinking. but i want something thats not a money pit my mk1 tt has costs me tens of thousands to keep properly maintained and serviced and fixing it but thats what you get with a 20 year old car if you want to properly take care of it and not neglect it. the money i put into my mk1 i could have paid for a golf r by now lol
KN filter in original housing and adjustable rear control arms are not original parts, top mount bushes are powerflex. No actual performance mods to the engine, suspension or brakes. Just keeping it well maintained keeps me busy.
What do you think about the increases in insurance? - has it affected you yet? Let me know below! ⬇️
Can we get some love in the comments for Natalie giving me the scoop regarding the insurance price hike! - Thanks Natalie!

But is there any point in keeping it when it’s too expensive to insure?

It won’t be long till we are all forced to sell our pride and joy 🥲
I did love it, but for a second car to keep it legal was so expensive. Looked at old vw,s but it's ridiculous running costs and restoration fees.

We’ll make sure you drive the hell out of both of them this year!
