- This is a Revisit/FollowUp regarding my 2021 GBTHV visit to the Saint Augustine Florida VA clinic where I was trespassed and arrested by Saint Johns County Sheriff Deputy T. McDonnell. After spending about 30 - 45 minutes cuffed in the back of a hot police car I was un - arrested and un - trespassed that same day. I have spoken with attorneys about civil litigation regarding this unlawful arrest but none of them are interested.

Everyday, more officers fired and another settlement at taxpayers' expense. Police defunding Themselves.

Step 1 is removing qualified immunity. Step 2 is start charging officers under 18 USC 242. Then there will be sufficient notice and motivation to properly train officers. There will then be no excuses for ignorance of police procedures and civil rights. Hubris and unprofessionalism can’t be trained out so we know which officers need to go. The arresting officer clearly had issues with hubris and ignorance of the basic fundamental civil rights. Sadly many VA police around the country have an incredible lack of understanding of their own policies as well as civil rights.

I think they are suffering now. In my city they can't find enough applicants to take the test, which is bad for the public, cause less good ones to choose from.
You know what frustrates me and everyone else about this scenario?

Y'all never gave a shit about this stuff but when COVID hit and you were forced to wear masks (the _horror)_ that's when new cop haters came out 😂

yep they hate it and last time he got to spend 45 minutes cuffed in the back of a hot suv because of it. There really should be a consequence to the officers' actions. Glad to see it was better this time but that dosen't excuse the last.

Litigation is just the icing on the cake if it all goes smoothly.

Stupid is as stupid does. You would think, after all this time and all the lawsuits, even prior to the last arrest for trespassing, they’d learn the “actual” law. I hope this one goes better than the last visit.
As we hear so often, “ ignorance of the law is not an excuse” except by those welfare recipients that are paid to enforce the laws. Accountability is the key. God bless you Jeff and all the patriots that stand up for our rights. You have lite the fire, I try every day to inform others of their rights.
And the PD's/SO's/CO's brass keep their subordinates as completely ignorant of the law as they possibly can as they know they are less likely to be successfully sued....

If the local attorneys are too scared to take on the County Sheriff, recommend you contact the nearest ACLU chapter and see if they would be interested. Detaining someone for practicing their Constitutional rights is certainly an illegal action within their core charter.

The ACLU has given up its purpose of protecting everyone's civil rights, and instead become a far-left organization which only supports far-left causes. Instead, the Institute for Justice (IJ), or the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) will take up such causes.

This is shameful that no lawyers will step up and take this case. With all the lawyers out there making really good money I don't understand why not one will step up.
They are part of the system and don't want to be shunned by the system .
The damages possibly wouldn't amount to enough to justify the lawyer's time and workload. If they had hauled Jeff to jail and he spent a night or two there then he may have had better luck. The deputy is lucky he changed his mind.

@@kingmasterlord If you were to force an attorney to perform work that he/she didn't wish to perform then that would be a violation of the 13th Amendment. You can't require anyone's labor.
Unfortunately most lawyers are scum of the earth and are in politics or inspire to be a politician. But their are a few who heroic to the cause and aren't Greedy. But let's face it normally if you need a lawyer your in some kinda trouble. Never a good thing 😕

It may have warmed your heart, but that's all it did. This is what people use to salve their conscience rather than actually helping.
A religious group paid for a study into intercessory prayer (praying for someone), the results are, no difference in result to chance. Unless the person knows their being prayed for, in that case it makes the result worse than chance.
Prayer doesn't work, as proved by a scientific study, paid for by a religious group.

If there was no civil action attached to this, it's making things worse for everybody.
These are the types of dialogue we need that are so often censored. Fortunately yours escaped unreasonable scrutiny or hasn't yet been addressed. I'd like to see more rational and meaningful dialogue like yours. We all know we need to see more precedence set in law that holds cops accountable and the the institutions that enable bad policing. We have so few wins in the higher courts and yet we know rule of law will win over color of law every time and yet its a wonder why we don't organize in numbers to afford appeals and complete justice. Primary to this question is the determination by the higher courts on the question of a *unlawful order* and legal defense against unlawful arrest - which by law is assault. The courts remain silent and have refused to address the 'lawful order' question .... and when they do it should be us.
I am emotionally moved when I see good people pray with Jeff, or offering him money, unsolicited.
There really are good people, but not many.

We can't have a civil and rational discussion on the issues that plague us as a community when we ourselves - censor free speech necessary for meaningful dialogue. When our civil and human rights are routinely violated, we need platforms and publishers courageous enough to expose the corruption and be the venue for discussion on the solutions. Content creators who champion our First Amendment can not ironically and hypocritically censor free speech. As publishers of civil rights content we lack integrity when we don't practice what we preach. We ask you Jeff, as a respected member of the community to join us in encouraging everyone in our community to refrain from intentional and wilful censorship of free speech. We can't have transparency and accountability if we continue to censor online dialogue. "Successful changes to systemic social ills often turn on a rare combination of complex cooperation and bipartisanship, however reluctant, of diverse human interaction". [This is not limited to YT algorithms, AI bot or shadowbanning. It's easy to differentiate between publishers overzealous censorship and platform 'content filters used to reduce toxicity'.]
Too many 1A auditors who publish content are violating their own advocacy - by censoring rational dialogue. We can't and won't find real solutions to the issues when community comments are deleted, removed and censored. We are all free human beings who can decide to read or not read comments for ourselves and we don't need overzealous boot stomping of ideas. Leave the public false safety and interference narrative to oppressive police, we can decide what meaningful debate is for ourselves ... otherwise we're just as bad as those who want to prohibit public petition, redress and grievances. Should we really fear 'potty mouth' trolls and 'hate speech' so much that we're willing to erase meaningful dialogue in search of justice? Why the willingness to censor free speech ... if we lose our liberty and freedom as well.

What is happening with the legal system in America when you cannot get a solicitor to take on these corrupt cops? It’s like the worlds law enforcement are singing from the same hymn sheet.
Those lawyers don't see a big enough settlement to justify their time and the backlash from the courts & police.
It is sad, as this should be an easy case of filing, followed by negotiation with the city lawyers based on the evidence at hand.

As a homeless veterinarian, specializing in abused animal rehabilitation, I fully support Jeff's message. There is nothing more rewarding than bringing aid and comfort to animals who have lost the ability to trust people. People can be so awful to each other, but they often take out their most violent urges on members of our society who can only tell stories with their reactions and body language. God bless you Jeff.
