Great Video! A lot of (whining) pedal geeks needs this perspective. People tend to forget that you can not compare a One Man Operation with an Assembly Line. Or small amount(sometimes nos vintage) component buys, compared to modern bulk orders. Everybody starting out building pedals, quickly realize how expensive it actually is. People always tend to forget the stuff they can not see in the final product, like the surrounding infrastructure that is required to create the product... You also made me want to build one of these! Cheers!
@neilmcnasty Thank you mate I really appreciate the positive vibes. I really should do a step by step guide of this one! Maybe when I hit the next milestone for subscribers or something 🤔
Don't worry too much about what the Internet of opinions has to say. I have been really enjoying your content. It's been super helpful for me as I have been building pedals over the last year or so. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. keep up the good work 👍
@thomasharlock1343 Thank you mate I really appreciate the kind words and I'm so happy you tind value in the videos I'm making. I'd love to see some of your pedals.
G'day Joe, It was a great video hearing you building a pedal at sea. It was normal to "do a foreigner" when I was an apprentice motor mechanic at Telstra Aust. Off the top of my head, I ported cylinder heads for 2 or 3 of my cars, bluprinted a Holley carb, repaired several SU carbs, rebuilt the engine for my Victa lawnmower (and fitted an RM80 expansion chamber), made engine mounts to fit a 12A rotary to an R100 Mazda, and replaced the rod bearing on a CB100 Honda. All in Telstra's workshops. When I moved to the office, I made A5 Owners Manuals for all of my digital cameras. At the very start, my manager preferred that I learn how to fix things on my own cars & bikes, than just do nothing, when all of the work was done. Thanks for another great video Andrew
@hisproperty1438 Thanks, Andrew. I really appreciate it. Wow that's pretty cool of them to let you get on and learn like that. There's literally no substitute for experience.
I army doors, I reckoned about £80 including a nominal price for your time. Interested to see if you’ve included for that come the end of vid. Lovely work as ever, Joe. 👏🏻
I really like these videos. But yeah, feels like many people that complained might have taken what you said as criticism towards the original builders. I actually think you seem pretty fair and level headed on this.
@Ari_Calamari Thank you mate. I really didn't mean any criticism, it was just me thinking out loud although I guess my thumbnail was a little full on ha! I really appreciate the kind words mate.
At the end of day people will pay what they are willing to pay. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy. I build on PCBs with regular non vintage components but that’s me. Keep doing your thing Joe
I think the people saying you're not taking it serious, are taking things too serious . Of course it's not exact science, but at least we get an idea of what it would cost more or less
@jobogaert8514 That was exactly what I was going for mate. I thought it would be fun to play it out and see what I got too. It seems you really can not please everyone ha ha.
Quite possibly they are now mate. I am fairly certain my Angry Charlie was through hole. It was an older one. Oh dear, now I fear I may be trawling the Internet geeking up on pedal guys ha ha
@hellosailoreffectsofficial it's all good mate...I just opened a few and was like well I'd rather have your pedals than this smc crap I can't stop shaking Long enough to solder...

Great insight mate- and sounds fantastic! 👍
@jdfosho Thanks mate I really appreciate that.

Hi Joe! How about a Kosoff drive build video! Cheers,
Sag.
Absolutely mate I think i really need too. The question is do I do a fabric covered version like in this video or the classic nitrocellulose lacquer?
Hmmm. Love both of them!
@mattdunnefilm Well that's definitely music to my ears mate. Thanks 🙏
Nice one Joe. That's a proper pricing reveal. The real test is in the sound and that's EPIC🧐🇬🇧🎸🍷🙏
@nodrog5150 Thanks mate. It's as accurate as I can make it. I had fun pondering all of this.
great video joe you are making great stuff. i wonder what josh jhs thinks of this?
Thank you mate I really appreciate that. I highly doubt he would have seen any of my stuff, I'm but a spec of dust compared to the big guys 🤣
Ah! Is that way your pedals are so salty? 😆 Nice mate. Keep up the great work.
Ha ha ha thanks mate much appreciated. Nothing like a bit of salt on your tone.
The bill of materials is incomplete: need to add the cost of a few lagers as well but otherwise accurate. Cool video!
@daviddelossantos6075 Ha ha thanks mate 🤣 Although slightly correct to a few bottles if rum 😆

@ac30helix44 Thank you mate much appreciated. Exactly, things are only worth what people will pay.

Really interesting! Would you be willing to share where you buy the enclosure from? I am looking for one like that for a DIY build.
Hello mate. Absolutely. If you could send me a DM on Instagram I'll send you the guys details.
Building your pedals while on deployment... "What are you working on there, son?" "Just another government job." Love it!
@robertsuitsjr6117 Ha ha it was certainly fun times mate. Got to love government work 🤣
Why don't ya do a compressor for us. Dyna Comp, or the compressor only, out of the zvex lofi thingamajiggy
Absolutely mate. Let me put something together ⚡️ Sounds like a fun project.
i had know idea the enclosure was covered in cloth
@VonRock Some of them are and some are nitrocellulose mate. I still can't decide which ones I prefer?
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial reminds me of an art technique called decoupage
Arent jhs pedals smc?
Quite possibly they are now mate. I am fairly certain my Angry Charlie was through hole. It was an older one.
