LOVE Greyhaven. They have a new album dropping in April. Honestly, with ETID breaking up, people should really watch out for these guys!
Oh nice! I'm compiling a sort of calendar so I don't miss out on any releases this year. I'll get this one added and eagerly await the release. Thanks!
Found out about them last year and fell in love! With me being such a huge Dillinger and ETID fan they were right up my alley.
This song was my intro to Greyhaven, they are so good. I love this stuff, they remind me of The Chariot and earlier Norma Jean musically and I’m all over that.
YES. Oh man, I was shocked that this didn't become one of those hyper reacted to songs when the video released like what an absolute BANGER. The whole album this comes off of is great, lot of 2000's vibes but with a more contemporary heaviness and crisp production.
Seriously, as an enormous ETID/Chariot/Daoboys guy, this is one of the only bands in the world that totally gets what I like about music
Their album last year was probably my most spun record of the year. It was such a great cross section of my favorite kinds of music.
Yes. Another new band to check out. I can't explain what I liked about it the way you do, but as a casual listener of music, I could definitely use more of this on my playlist. 👍
Man I love this song, listened to it so much when I found it last year. That chorus🤘🏼
This whole album is great. Super cool dudes too. They fit in with the family of bands like Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, The Chariot, He is Legend etc. The album before this is more chaotic, but has some great tracks as well. They have a new one coming out this summer as well.
I know of Every Time I Die but I can't say I've heard the other 3. After digging this entire album though I guess I gotta check out those reqs if they're all in the similar style.
Sufferer - Then YOU WOULD LOVE IT. Slaps.
Such a sick band. Cool that you checked out both songs. Nice reaction and analysis
This song had a lot of nostalgia for me. It had an older ‘10’s metalcore riffage (reminded me of Oh Sleeper and While She Sleeps- two of my fav metalcore groups). The tremolo picking in the verses created a wall of openness for the vocals to really shine while adding an intensity. The fry and gritty vocals were great. I freaking loved how the guitars supported the chorus vocal line…brilliant and really made that line stick. The small silence cuts were brilliant. It provided just enough space to leave space for a breath while adding to the grandiosity to the song. the last section was great. It was pretty unique- not just heavy for the sake of being heavy. Loved the hard stop at the end- reminiscent of the small cuts throughout the song. It was kinda like a mic drop- they know they made a banger and that was it!
I didn’t think this was anything mind-bending but they made a song that kicked ass. It was simple enough to be catchy while infusing some uniqueness- tremolo in the verses, hardstops, and, at least in metal, a mostly singing track.
Good stuff 👊🏽
Interesting point about the interesting stuff- I wonder how much that had to do with algorithms and getting clicks??
Oh Sleeper is a band I need to catch up on. I've listened to When I Am God a ton after discovering Vices Like Vipers but I never did dive into the rest of their music. Thanks for the reminder.
MORE ETID
Try just as real but not as brightly light. Slaps so fucking hard.
I just recently found these guys. I’ve probably replayed both their cds 50 times now. You should check out Loathe if you haven’t already. They mix shoegaze with metal, and use the old squire baritone and get a super heavy mix out of it. Great band.
Glad you dug it so much! This band is seriously underrated. I am very curious though what your thoughts are of the album after listening to it and seeing how much more of their normal chaos is present haha
So I checked out the album already and loved it. It was, more or less, an entire album of what is presented here but it worked for me. I was a little apprehensive given how often they dive into more chaotic elements but I walked away ready to dive back in :)
@Critical Reactions that's so cool to hear, man! They actually just dropped a new single today off their upcoming album, it being the second single. Idk if you're going to plan on reacting to that or listening to it on your own time, but if not let me know. I have no problem heading to that PayPal to get it added to the list 👀
Alot of good song suggestions this week and before
I'll bet my entire Transformers collection these guys listen to Protest The Hero... Not at all a bad thing 👌 This was pretty killer for sure 🤔
Dude, you can't bring up something like a Transformers collection without expecting people to want to see that.
@@CriticalReactions Not to mention my signed first 4 issues of a particular comic book by Peter David 🤔
I'm surprised you haven't gone back to this band. Their album from this year was really good.
Their recent album is in my list for 2022 AOTY!!!! It was a wild album.
Parts of this remind me of 2000s radio rock, but others are more metalcore with a handful of proggy flourishes. This is one of those tracks that has me intrigued because I could see this being a band I'd either really enjoy or could be bored by depending on what elements of their sound their other tracks focus on, because in this track alone there's a mix of elements I find interesting and others I find more generic. Fun track in general, but I guess you could say I'm somewhat ambivalent but still interested to hear more.
I enjoyed the album. It was pretty much more of this, the chaos of flipping between quite a few different ideas and pairing the more abrasive metalcore sounds with radio rock segments to balance it all out.
Great reaction!!! Can you please do the song Charlie sheen by nick nittoli he's a rapper
