Ah yes, TXRD2. Probably one of those masterpieces which would have been forgotten without YT. The DayNight cycle on this game makes it so fun, given you have both legal and well, other types of racing in the same game. While the physics can be a bit weird at times, specially in the later, secret rally stage. It doesn't mean this game is unplayable, always a good day when people try it out!
I had played TXR Zero but this was my first time with the Drift version. I am now addicted to it and want to play it again! It would be great to see you tackle this game one day.

@@JaK_nz Yeah i did use the Silvia B class for my TXR0 run, i realized that it's actually too powerful for B class, so i decided to switch up to the E36 (A class), despite the higher class it actually performed way worse than your ordinary A class. even the silvia Currently i've beaten Speed King, and i only have the zodiacs and a few wanderers remaining Some people in the discord said it's definitely possible with C class cars (Shows footage of AE86 vs ???, i was genuinely impressed)

When driving, everyone always carries some sort of safety margin. True speed is achieved by minimizing that margin. By driving the way the car wants rather than the driver, and having the boldness to fly into corners at high speed. Do that, and any car can be a formidable fighting machine. I say this as someone who started conquest with an ae85 levin from the used dealer and no parts. This thing can absolutely win on hokkaido, but it will require a different racing style. One which demands foresight and fine steering control.
Back when this game had just come out, I was lucky enough to find it at a local Gamestop in town. I would bounce between this, GT4 and RE4 often at my friends house whenever I would stay over, to the point where he would beg me to play something else 😅 The TXR series has lots of memories with me, absolute sleeper and very underrated
My friend and I were very similar growing up except it was TXR Zero instead. This was the first time I ever got to try this game and I absolutely love it!!!

The TXR series was famous for this, but there was no feeling else like being the King, and conquering the rivals. Great videos buddy, I love watching them!
This is the only game that I will most likely keep playing until the day I die. I swear... I picked it up in 2020 and I have been playing it constantly. Whenever I "beat" the game I just erase my save and start over again, happily. The game is so varied and packed with content that it is practically never ending. Even the AI surprises me to this day.
There was time when you can beat Hamagaki, Jintei, and Emotional King, buy rain doll, and when you race them, use spike tires, because the rivals will use slick wet tires that's tarmac, in that way, you can beat them!

Honestly knew Kaido President was going to be stopping point of this run. But hey, if it takes a Turbo Charged AWD swapped S2000's to take this thing down, that's honestly a complement.
Yeah that S2000 being 4wd is a killer. I think that if I could beat him then I could take the remaining opponents. That straight line speed on the long straights just made it so difficult.
I appreciate that fact that you let my man in the sunny truck shine, the first time i played this game was the original kaido battle 2, years ago. My first encounter with the sunny truck, i lost. And ill never forget it.
Unironically, I think the City Turbo is one of the fastest FWD cars in the game. It's got an amazing power-weight ratio and a short wheelbase to keep it nimble, traits also present in the game breaking/meta defining ASL Garaiya and Opel Speedster (which also have the advantage of the MR layout, which is downright amazing in this game outside of rally).
Such a gem, plays great on PCSX2 :) Like an idiot I choose an AE85 as my starter car, but since the game is tight with cash and 80HP are too slow I started over and choose the Honda CRX which races much better. Sorry Tofu- Box :)
how possibly a 240hp/640 kg car be slow? that's well over 370hp per ton... there's a myriad of racecars under that ratio, it's insane that it's even able to steer with that much power to the front wheels.
@@JaK_nz You must try txr3, it even has engine swaps. Also real license on the cars so they named correct, just not as many cars. But it’s the best one overall I own all of them.
WTF man, I just recently started playing this game and was tempted by the 180SX and even after some tuning wasn't able to pull ahead of that first nighttime 40k CP racer.
I think there was a cut when you were upgrading. The points totals don’t align. I know it’s probably for the sake of the video but if you have cuts like that you should probably find a way to hide the number until after the cut. At about 2:53 you were about out of CP and then jump to over 300,000 cp.
I would upgrade my car but all the races in between trips to the upgrade store were boring so some upgrades got combined into a single clip for the sake of a fluid story. Thanks for the heads up. I will try think of a way to avoid that going forwards
Is there anyway to emulate this? I really need to play these games. They need to make a remake or something because these games are better than what's been released recently.

It wasn't pretty! Extreme angle high risk drifts on racing tires for the first couple of corners and then do anything to catchup and overtake by the finish line.
U can drift very well in this game , lets say same like in Assetto corsa or car x drift , but it takes skill and proper tune . I drove whole touge from top of mountain to bottom , with every corner clean full drifts :) if u are intrested i will provide some drifting videos
Considering the AI in this game, you'll be fine in Stage 1 and maybe even Stage 2. The Colt definitely seems quite bad, though. Not as light as a kei car or even other subcompacts, and yet still having

Is there actual factual evidence somewhere that Initial D was meant to start as a Honda City? I can only find rumor mill posts on reddit saying that. And I have seen interviews with Keiichi Tsuchiya saying Initial D was modeled after his career as he was the creator of drifting to go faster in cornering and he raced in Truenos, which Initial D also used in likeness.

Playing this right now and love it, but the AI are horrendously slow. It's not an emulation issue since I'm playing on a real PS2 via hard drive, they're just booty cheeks at corners. Basically Test Drive Unlimited levels of helpless. It's a shame because the character bios give it so much flavour, and the gameplay loop is like crack, but I feel guilty sailing through events with a mere CRX, waving goodbye to RX7s that decided to take turns like my mother.
Actualy the original Japanese version of this game wich is called "Kaido Battle : Touge no Densetsu " has way more content , than this shitty american port i have original , i have like 5 000 hours in this game for sure , and for those who think u cant drift , u Can drift same like in asseto corsa , but i takes a bunch of skill . in Japanese version u unlock boss vinlys , and u can make famous Takumi's toyota ae 86 with black hood , and Tofu shop sign on a side , i have it myself , i beat whole game with it :) numerous times . and also Japanese version has New Game + after u beat it :) that lets u carry over numerous stuff from first play . also if anyone is intrested i can provide some drifting videos for all those people who say u cant drift in this game :)

I love this game to death, the only bad part is the fact that it gets super grindy towards the end. Excellent commentary and edit btw, insta-sub!

Yeah, it's a bit of a stark contrast from the very first game where he drove a De Tomaso Pantera (or an NSX in the North American release)

No joke, the City Turbo is the best starter car. I usually struggle once I reach Stage4. But it destroys everyone else before that haha
It does so well. I didn't really need to even upgrade it for a decent portion of the game.

It is one of the fastest. The fastest FWD car is the crx in terms of all around. If it was a drag race, then the integra type r (rsx) is the fastest.

I am using an emulator to play this called PSCX2. This allows you to go back and play the ps2 games you always wanted to.

@@0TheFinal fwd cars are not for drift , u can pull of short some powerslides , but no countinous drift , same like in real life

Getting caught out on them that one time made me check before each race from that point onwards.
