Terrific tour, thank you. USB chargers everywhere - convenient ( I have them all over my house as well). However... my Anker battery once got wet at the connector while it was plugged into my iPhone - it started to heat up, melted parts around the connector. Still works, but could've caused a fire. Perhaps part of a captain's briefing to new crew/guests should include: be careful with your devices. If they get wet - do not plug them in. Of course I'm not an electrical engineer - just a busy body. Commercial airlines I've read have metal fire boxes to place devices into if they start to overheat. Perhaps one of these, or a kitchen pot? If in a few years you see me on a 55, Outremer owes you and Marjike a referral fee.
We call your metal box “oven” or “Miele”, she listens to both. And yes I agree, send Matthieu or Xavier a message. But a symbolic fee is ok as well as it is easy to show happiness when you’re happy
The Outremer 55 looks like the perfect trade off between performance and comfort - big enough for comfort and while being a fast performer. Your choices and addition is just outstanding. Two questions/areas I would like your take on: 1) How to you find the new helm solution ? Which one to you prefer in what conditions ? I like the Balance 526 helm setup - how do you think the two helm solutions compare? 2) If I understand correctly, displacement is stated as 13.9/18,5 ton. Does this give you "enough" volume/ton for equipment/fuel/water/food/toys without loosing "too much" performance in light wind? Thanks for sharing
1) the helm station on the balance is more protected but leaves only the traditional setup with the small door between cockpit and saloon. Just crossed the Atlantic and for us the current setup works really well 2) the 55 seems much less sensitive for a bit more weight if I compare our speed to the other boats. We’re probably 16 -16,5 fully loaded
What a lovely purpose built boat! I have been wondering what is behind the rationale using fresh water for flushing the toilets? I haven't had any problems with Baltic seawater.
I got this tip from an authorized Bosch installer/repairman and countertop installer. To clean and remove fingerprints from brushed stainless steel spray some WD-40 on a microfiber cloth and swipe back and forth, not vertically or in circles. Buff with a clean microfiber towel, again in side to side motion. Works on stainless steel sinks too and can remove calcium build-up.
We could try that as well but it seems like there’s an issue with a series of Isotherm fridges as all 55’s have the same problem and the freezers from the same brand are all ok
We had a Wingaker on the Lagoon but we didn’t really like it, too vulnerable and no additional speed compared with just wing on wing with main and code 0. On the Outremer we chose an asymmetric spi of similar size and a heavy cloth smaller symmetrical spi
Wow. What a truly fabulous boat. I love it But dare I ask? How much would one of those cost me these days? My FP Antigua 37 was 60,000 quid in 1991 ......

Thanx for that as always, really love the generosity for bringing us along with you. Quick question; What was the thinking behind going with both Raymarine and B & G as opposed to sticking with the same name brand in redundancy? Also if you could elaborate on why B & G over Raymarine when it comes to the plotter and other choices between the two?
We were used to the BandG on our 2 previous boats, so for us it’s fine. We’re not too enthusiastic about their software updates and blackouts but the readability of the screens is really great. We considered taking a second BandG but complete independent systems seemed like a good idea as well and Pochon had good experiences with this one
Hi Mark, Great tour - thank you. Could you have done without the Genset? Since you do have an 12V and 24V Alternator (maybe on both engines?). The alternators coupled with bigger battery (I think you do have 1,5 kWh of Lithiums) might be enough. What do you think? Thank you. Oliver
Thanks for all your videos and to share your experience. What is the reference for the handless audio devices you use during your maneuvers ? (My dad is unfortunately becoming a bit deaf so we use to shout during maneuvers and its not pleasant for everybody) Salutations from Britany :)
Nice informative video. Quick question regarding the B&G setup. I seem to vaguely remember a previous video when you were talking about your navigation choices that you decided on the Nac3 autopilot system instead of the H5000. Why did you end up going for the H5000 setup? Cheers
The H5000 cpu should be slightly faster but our main considerations were regarding a more reliable wind indication and better displays both at the helm and for the autopilot controllers. The wind meter is higher above the top of the mast and can be calibrated in the BandG, both TWA and TWS
As usual I have a couple of questions 🤔 How would you compare the build quality and finish between the old GC and the new GC, things like layout of components, wiring, fit, finish etc Is one better thought out than the other or are they basically on par with each other. Second ( and last ) Is there anything your missing from the old GC ?? As always stay safe and keep having fun - oh and put your shoes away properly next time 😛😛😜😜
Hi Glen, that’s an interesting question as it’s not so easy to answer as you would expect. Build quality has many aspects. In general the Outremer is better build in terms that it is stiffer and all major components are properly laminated together. In terms of finish the Lagoon has improved in the meantime as well. If you look at the interior of the Lagoon 55 it’s way better than the L52 and I would say comparable to the O55.
Wrong button but let’s continue. In some areas the finish of the Lagoon is even way better, for example looking at the teak/Esthec floor, the finish of the engine compartment hatches and the silly setup of the main galley cupboard.
Both in the saloon and cockpit we chose Esthec. Looks nice, emphasises the idea of one big space. The parts in strong direct sunlight get pretty hot, white lining is supposed to be better in that aspect
That second anchor is just resting in grooves with bungee tie downs, you might want to add a clip on the bottom to stop it bouncing up and down in heavy seas.
Really appreciate your channel and info you share. I am also considering to have Outremer. Do you think there is significant difference in performance between your sails, and Hydranet sails in these boats?
Probably only for very serious sailors, we chose them because they’re black 🤣 You can spend a lot of money on the last details but it won’t be a big difference in enjoying the boat for the average cruiser But in the end if you are able to do the investment the additional depreciation might be very limited
You have to ask them but I met a couple already who had a slot on an improved fully electric Outremer 4.Zero. I do t know whether they’re already willing to do the same on other models
@@CatGreatcircle thank you, Outremer gave me a pretty good pack of information on the 4.zero yes I think the electric options on bigger models probably face some weight/power ratio issues. Also for your followers the HH44 hybrid models are very interesting maximising, it seems the best of both worlds.
With all the luxuries on board you are going to visit some primitive islanders that cook on wood and eat fresh fish. Did Outremer forget the barbeque ??😀😀👍👍
@@CatGreatcirclenow that I am thinking about your gear ..... many cruisers take bicycles on board for shopping and sightseeing. What are your experiences with that? And also I saw cruisers working hard in the heat to bing the supplies on board that they need for the next leg: food and drinks, beers and wines. What are your experiences? How do you organize that ?
@@CatGreatcircle It was only a joke, you''ll both settle soon and be able to fully appreciate the beautiful cat you bought. I can imagine the stress prior to the maiden sail and not having set off for good yet. All these little things to solve first. My wife needs to keep an eye on me too :D Good luck both of and GreatCircle.
You mean Victron for the solar panels? No idea why they chose that, in other areas they are pretty much focused on Mastervolt. Does Mastervolt have comparable products? We had the same on our Lagoon
@@CatGreatcircle New boats and cars have the same problem with price depreciation. I hope you got a good deal so you get your money back. Extras and upgrades are not valued highly.

That second anchor is just resting in grooves with bungee tie downs, you might want to add a clip on the bottom to stop it bouncing up and down in heavy seas.
Will have a look but so far we haven’t seen circumstances on any of our cats that we felt this could be happening
@@CatGreatcircle new England sailor just used to heavier seas and wave action.
Wonderful video, thank you so much!!
so the table in the saloon lowers to form a lounging area or a bed, OK. But what keeps those two big cushions in place?!
Velcro strips underneath the table
Really appreciate your channel and info you share. I am also considering to have Outremer. Do you think there is significant difference in performance between your sails, and Hydranet sails in these boats?
Probably only for very serious sailors, we chose them because they’re black 🤣
You can spend a lot of money on the last details but it won’t be a big difference in enjoying the boat for the average cruiser
But in the end if you are able to do the investment the additional depreciation might be very limited
😁
Stunning
Hi we are considering Outremer for our new boat. What are your options on Ocean Volt sail drive systems to replace diesel power engines?
You have to ask them but I met a couple already who had a slot on an improved fully electric Outremer 4.Zero.
I do t know whether they’re already willing to do the same on other models
@@CatGreatcircle thank you, Outremer gave me a pretty good pack of information on the 4.zero yes I think the electric options on bigger models probably face some weight/power ratio issues. Also for your followers the HH44 hybrid models are very interesting maximising, it seems the best of both worlds.
Wheel in the cockpit for heavy weather sailing? You did not show that setup.
What brand of Bean Bags are those ? Thank you in advance.
B-bag extreme lounge quilted
@@CatGreatcircle Thank you
I googledthe English meaning of Spekeend and it it came up Bacon Duck. Is the something you put in stompot? 😁
I always call him Fat Duck which is probably more in line with the Dutch meaning. Not the most common name, that’s for sure
Do I have your woerde on that? 🤣
With all the luxuries on board you are going to visit some primitive islanders that cook on wood and eat fresh fish. Did Outremer forget the barbeque ??😀😀👍👍
We had a bbq on the lagoon but sold the boat with the box still intact 🙈
@@CatGreatcirclenow that I am thinking about your gear ..... many cruisers take bicycles on board for shopping and sightseeing. What are your experiences with that? And also I saw cruisers working hard in the heat to bing the supplies on board that they need for the next leg: food and drinks, beers and wines. What are your experiences? How do you organize that ?
Thanks for sharing !
Schitterende boot!
One day i swear to myself ill sell all my belongings and house buy a boat and sail! been waiting for this one....
No problem to live on board a cat like this so start selling!
Marijke is not in the relax-mode yet :-)
Probably she is but she sees things I don’t see and will never see
Most of the times this is really helpful
@@CatGreatcircle It was only a joke, you''ll both settle soon and be able to fully appreciate the beautiful cat you bought. I can imagine the stress prior to the maiden sail and not having set off for good yet. All these little things to solve first. My wife needs to keep an eye on me too :D Good luck both of and GreatCircle.
Why the mix of Victron and Mastervolt?
You mean Victron for the solar panels? No idea why they chose that, in other areas they are pretty much focused on Mastervolt. Does Mastervolt have comparable products? We had the same on our Lagoon
I think Mastervolt has 2 MPPT controllers with specific profiles for MLIs, would be interested as to their rational....
Me too
Please post when you find out :)
Quanto gasolio avete consumato?...
We use between 2 and 3 liters per hour using only one engine most of the time. The engines have 350 hours in 15 months
@@CatGreatcircle Ottimo consumo....grazie della risposta.....Buon vento.
Looks good..
Is something wrong with your mic ? We could not hear anything properly...
Yes maybe, it won’t let me adjust the recording volume
@@CatGreatcircle Oh NOoooooo....
That's a lot of tech which is not cheap. So what was the final price and how did you manage to afford it?
What is cheap or not will be determined when we deliver her to the next owner. Feeling pretty optimistic about that so don’t spoil it
@@CatGreatcircle New boats and cars have the same problem with price depreciation. I hope you got a good deal so you get your money back. Extras and upgrades are not valued highly.
As I See you need a Garcia explocat 52.
Nice cat as well
