  • One of my subscribers messaged me saying he would be coming to #Taiwan for Mandarin Chinese learning program at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). It gave me the idea to drop by the University on a Saturday and find out what the foreign students in NTNU really think about studying in Taiwan. I was rather surprised and glad to find how many of them chose to stay in Taipei to work after the language learning program. I hope this video will not only provide a better understanding of the student life in #Taipei but also a reassurance for those who are uncertain about Mandarin Chinese learning in Taiwan.

For people wanting to study in Taiwan who have a little previous background in Mandarin, 中國文化大學 is also a really good choice. I originally studied there because it was cheaper than Shida (lol), but I think I ended up learning a lot more because the pool of students there generally come from non-English speaking countries, and speaking Mandarin constantly was my only option to communicate with not only my teacher, but my classmates as well. Really great experience!

A+... nice work... I'm getting the impression that Taiwan would be a terrific place to visit & I should probably join an English speaking tour to make the best of a trip there (just watched several of your vids). I'm impressed how you are able to get such good, responsive participants - refreshing. thank you

I like the interview idea but you tend to interrupt your interviewees a lot with more questions when they are in the middle of speaking or you try to finish their thought for them.

I study French and Italian at Uni I'm England (speaking French fluently). I really want to go to China after my degree and learn mandarin for a year and get as high a level as possible (I can't speak or understand any Chinese). Does you think this is a good/realistic idea? What would you recommend I do? Thank you :)

大家好 ! I am a Turkish mechanical engineering student who would love to move to Taiwan. I was thinking of going there after my bachelors for a masters but due to the situation in my country, I might have to move sooner. The reason I chose Taiwan is because it is a very technologically developed industrialized nation, and it seems to be a safe place full of friendly people and beautiful culture. All of this while being more affordable than most developed nations.
I would greatly appreciate if you guys could help me with some questions:
Are there English language engineering degrees? It could also be half Mandarin, half English and in that case I would go to a language school for a year probably. It does not have to be mechanical, could also be electrical, chemical etc. since first year classes are pretty common anyways. Even if it is fully English, I will get to learning Chinese right away!
Do you recommend going to a language school for a year before starting my studies either way?
Would it be easy to find work as an international student while studying, enough to cover my expenses from second year on? (This is why I was considering going to language school first)
I can bring around 10000 USD max with me for my first year only, would that be enough for all expenses? I am planning on starting work ASAP.
What are some universities you can recommend for engineering? (My priority would be English language)
Finally, do you know if it's possible to transfer credits to the university in Taiwan? If you can give some university recommendations I will contact them about this right away. (My university is already partners with National Tsing Hua, National Cheng Kung, National Sun Yat-sen, National Chiao Tung, National Taiwan and National Chengchi Universities if it helps, also ABET credited)
I know I asked a bit too many questions, but I am getting desperate due to the situation in Turkey hope you guys understand. I know Chinese is really difficult, but I trust myself with it. I taught myself C1 English and B2 German and I love learning languages in general. I will not give up! Also I am still testing the waters, I am not fully determined for this option which is why I would really appreciate your feedback. 謝謝 !

Hi, I’m sorry I couldn’t help you with your questions since I’m not studying related major. But I suggest you to search some fb clubs regarding foreigners in Taiwan and then post your questions there, it might have more possibilities for meeting people who are able to answer to your questions.
Glad to know that you’re interested in coming here, good luck ☺️✨
