I always loved when the prisoners gathered around Egon telling the Ivo Shandor story like the disciples and he was kind of caught off guard by their interest. That's what made this movie and Egon Spengler great, the understated irreverence.

That and when he turns on Ray’s proton pack in the elevator and then pushes past Venkman to get a whole 2.25 extra feet away were the quiet but very humorous takes that Harold Ramis always seemed to give not only these, but the other movies he appeared in.

He was so focused on his science that he couldn't deal with people like people, he was never in on the joke and that's why you could believe he would build a proton pack. ghostbusters 2016 they act like cartoon characters making goofy observations so you don't believe they could make the tech.

I first became a fan of his when he was with SCTV, one of my favorite shows, it had almost an underground cult kind of following.

Even though Ernie Hudson lowkey probably gets the best lines in the movie(We ALL know what to do if someone asks if You're a god, just as an example), Peter Venkman is steals damn-near every scene he's in and is completely improvised, and Ray Stanz is the heart of the team, Egon Spengler will always be my favorite Ghostbuster. He's the big brains and, let's be honest, the one who came up with the plan that saved The World. All The Busters are important and matter and 'Ol Egon is no exception. Rest in Peace, Harold Ramis. You're still dearly missed.

Funny thing : it was an honest mistake made by Harold Ramis, but it was so in character for Egon that they kept it in the final cut.

They were all great characters. Their different personalities sometimes getting on the same wavelength is what sold the characters as a team.
