- A naive but welcome pre-coronavirus pleasure for #badgolf. In their last round before a period of hibernation, John and Alex innocently enjoy two thirds of the Silvermere course, not knowing that this will be the last time they play for a while. Alex is currently 3-1 up but becomes grumpy at the end. John says "oh John" enough times for everything to feel normal.
I will saying the putting has improved. Once John stopped staring at the pin, his putting improved.
This was brilliant. Cheered me right up. Top 2 moments:
1. An 8 iron? I'm going PW. So you'll land in the sand. No chance. And then what happened? 🤣🤣
2. The 'Oh John' and then good look at the club as if it had cost John the duff rather than player error LOL.

Ok Guys, this might be your first ever feed back from improving a viewers golf game by watching your videos. I’ve been playing this lovely game badly for nearly thirty years. In all that time I’ve never broken 90. After watching Alex’s very short backswing I thought I would give it a go. I couldn’t believe the difference it made. My last round before we went into lockdown, I shot a 87. I’ve been watching the like of Sheils, Finch and Crossfield for years and not learnt a thing. You guys are a true inspiration!!!
Check out "The Swing Surgeon". He teaches a short backswing which I use and it changed my golf swing too.
Always makes me smile how pleased Alex is when he zooms well. And he says it as if it's going to make John feel better that his bad shot was filmed well!
I always love how John says "take it away" after Alex has missed a putt to halve the hole. As if he's doing him a favour.
Totally agree with Alex. There was a hell of a lot of joy on my part when that ball "arrowed into the bunker".
Maybe it is just because of a self-quarantine for the last month, but this golf course is gorgeous looking.
I saw you on Rick's channel and was surprised by the name of your channel. Now that I've watched it, I'm satisfied that everything is right with the world. Continue on, lads.

The water you played out of was not staked and therefore is ‘casual water’ from which you could’ve taken a free drop. Great video as always.

I was almost yelling that at the screen too. However I also very much wanted to see Alex’s shot out of the water so swings and roundabouts.
I've been working my way through the videos and this is the funniest one I've seen so far! So many 'Oh John's and some unbelievable camera work from Alex!

As someone who works on a golf course, thank you for the shout out to the grounds crew. We appreciate being appreciated. Also, from someone that works on a golf course, that is, while not spectacular, not "bad golf". You wouldn't believe...
That whoopsie from Mr.Horne on the second hole made me actually laugh out loud-and i never laugh...out loud.

Great guys just what I needed Bad golf on Monday morning
John's putting saga ("To look, or not to look, at the hole") has been cracking me up for weeks. Then to watch him miss a long one today, blame it on not looking at the hole, and go back his old habit was the icing on the cake haha.
Don't even get me started on Alex's putting... 🤣
Love the videos guys. John is like I would be at golf. I absolutely get how he wants to just feel like he is improving. Winning a hole when he has hit duff shots will give no pleasure, I absolutely get that.

Ball in water.
If you are standing in water you get a free drop. Mark your ball and drop it at the nearest point no closer to the hole. You can't drop it and still be in water. This doesn't apply if it's in a hazard.
Love the bad golf scoring on the first one you played...par 5, both putting for bogey (6) then giving the 7th...declare a half in 6 !!

John, my coach explained why I can hit better shots on the range than on the course.
On a range mat the ball is presented perfectly.
On the course, even on a fairway, the ball will sink slightly into the grass.
If John now has 3 shots on Alex, should he only be given 2 as they are playing 12 holes?
Collis Smith I am with you on this! If I was Alex, I’d be checking the stroke index and if 1-3 were on holes not playing....bad luck John...... even if he means he gets no shots!!
Ma9mwah Cars I think they are playing 1-10, then 17 and 18. So does that mean only 1 shot for John on the 3rd?

Unstaked casual water there Alex. Water pooling around your feet in your stance is where that rule comes in (more like swimming pooling there 😂).

Needed to do all 12 holes rather than making us wait 2 weeks. And when full rounds split it in 2 parts. Always enjoy the vids and your nice and local to me. Actually getting married at silvermere if all this corona blows over.
I went to silvermere for a fitting back in January (left handed golf) lovely place.
Three 6 hole vids, one per week and you play the next round on the fourth?! Obviously post-apocalypse etc!

I’m playing my first round at silvermere this weekend. If I can beat these two then I’ll be doing well. On the second hole the conversation was hilarious. It was clearly cold and you were both stiff as boards. You should both just have taken a nice easy 9i.
I thought Alex was playing an Ultra from his announcement on the first tee. But that ball on the green on the last hole is a Slazenger. Is John trying to recreate the famous James Bond Vs Goldfinger scene to win the round?!
Why are we always amazing caddies after we hit a terrible shot? It suddenly becomes painfully obvious that it was the wrong club, that we should have laid up, that there's a headwind or that there's a poor lie to take into account.

If you're looking at the hole when putting you're not looking at where the putter is hitting the ball so you're likely to not be 'middling' the ball, hence dragging your putts. Line it up then get your head over it.

There is a shot tracer app you can download mate, video shots normally then upload them to the app after.. I use "shot tracer" app

John you have a lovely swing, have you heard of tour caddy experience (rick Shiels latest podcast).I really think having someone to walk you thru a round would help your game massively and I don’t mean that nastily. You can swing it great but your shot choice is lacking. I say this as I was a 25 handicapper for years until I started playing with some OAPs with yrs of experience. I could hit it twice as far off the tee but after that I lost shots on them as they knew there game and played to it. Alex your a bandit mate 😂 you seem to take the (no offence) ladies mindset, you don’t take bravado onto the course, you know your game and play to it, as in you don’t say I can reach with this club when you clearly have no chance(like John sorry John) also alex always play a provisional ball as if you don’t find it you have to go back to previous spot to hit again or you’ll have to take an extra stroke penalty, so if off the tee you lose the first ball and walk to we’re you think it was your hitting for 4 and that’s only a local rule so some courses you’d lose the hole in match play automatically an in stroke play I think your DQ unless you take that walk of shame, sorry for the boringly long comment, really like this channel but you may have to chance name to not bad golf lol stay safe guys

i can't watch this anymore.. it's a great concept. But Alex feeling like John actually cares about him and Alex bowing to him is just embarrassing..
