Guys I have to tell you, you did an amazing job with this video, the scene selection and matching to the music was excellent! I was flying these things 20 years ago and one of my favorite flyers was actually a J3 Piper Cub just like in your video... mine had a 9ft wingspan on 4 foot floats and I hollowed out the nose and counterbalanced to fit a Sony Handycam behind a down facing window... Lots of fun!

Greetings from Union City! This has been in my favorites since you posted and still one of my all time favorite FPV videos. The part around 42 seconds where the penguin is doing a loop still gives me goose bumps. The song you use works perfectly with your teams flying and editing style. Not to mention you guys are local. :D
Nice! This is so much fun to watch and better than Tem-BlackSheep in my opinion. I also like that you fly "real" aircraft models and not just the boring foam wings. I really like the close-up views of other flying RC aircraft. And i also like the different camera positions on the aircraft

flite Test also doesn't want to hold a candle to them...lol. Flite test is primarily based for new people with advanced tips here and there.

Staggeringly good stuff guys, loving the close proximity flying. sometimes a little too close :) But it's all fantastic to watch. It doesn't hurt that you fly over some stunning scenery as well

Well done, beautiful! I especially enjoy the juxtaposition of the big cub and that awesome glider (what is that?) to the antics of the other craft. Like they are the parents just humming along while the children play. Cool! What glider is that? Pretty.

great video and a example of people who give a good reputation this hobby. I remember early 90's I would skip school and go flying . only now I realise how fun it was 👍
Generally those videos are compiled over a 6 month or more run of flying each week multiple days. We don't aim to crash, but when flying FPV so close to another craft and pushing the limits there will inevitably be a point when we find the edge and go over. Based on the range of RC flying I've experienced over the years, we crash WAY less then your average RC flyer. For us, those instances are experience gained, and if in a safe place there's no concern to go down and learn from it. ;)

Great vid! What happened to the Cub after that mid-air?
Didn't do any damage to my Cub. Just noticed a slight bump in flight. The other aircrafts canopy with the camera came of and was dangling by it's wires. Dave was able to safely land it line of sight.

It's not a glider, but I'd look into the Penguin from ReadyMadeRC, great FPV plane (shown in the videos in formation) floats nicely and would handle those batteries easy... you could probably put a pair of them in for nice longer flying. They repair easily too. ;)
No post coloring, stabilizing, enhancement or anything... just shot @ 720p/60fps on the Hero2. The colors correction could have been more even between the locations, but most who watch my videos don't care so I didn't spend time on that. ;)
Good old California sun helps.

Sorry you weren't into the music. There's probably no music track that we'll get everyone to like, but we appreciate you liked the video. You can just mute it and play a favorite track of your own and that might make it better. ;)
Yeah, I think our videos show theres nothing threatening about the technology, nothing infringing on anyone's rights, and pure fun sharing the national airspace all of us tax paying American's own and should continue to have access to if done in a safe way.
Yes, the CUB is a tank... in both mid airs it's been fine. The Penguin will be repaired, and the SW was fine just a dangling canopy held by the wiring. He's going to add some markers like WWI pilot kills with the SW and Penguin on there. :P

It's the 80" wingspan Hangar 9 Cub. It was a great plane. It has crashed since then and will be replaced by the 1/4 scale Hangar 9 Super Cub. The lead weights in the nose came loose and shifted the CG aft, causing it to spin.
It's hard to get into setups here in the comments, but you can post a ticket at ReadyMadeRC and list what gear you're planning to use and they can list an FPV package to check into for your build.

I really love this vid! I am a traditional old school plane guy but I am now transforming into a NAZA-M Quad guy w/ GPS etc. and I freakin love all the different planes flying together!

Thats pretty ballsy flying but so worth it for this video. I take it you all had plenty of glue and duct tape onhand. :)
Search on Google "fpv twinstar calidave" and you'll find the build log on the Twinstar. It's a bit tough to explain things like that on these video replies. :)
We shoot in 720p @ 60fps and edit the video @ 30fps so that makes the footage already half speed when editing. Then if steady you can speed up from there. ;)

There are a few used, the 600mw 5.8G IRC vtx, RMRC 400mw 1.3G on either 1280MHz or 1258MHz, RMRC 900MHz 800mw... all available @ ReadyMadeRC

This video is outstanding! I fly a Skywalker with FPV and getting the footage you got is unbelievable. Terribly difficult to stay in formation, and you make it look easy.
Also, I love that crash footage, and all of your transitions too. Great work.
If I might ask, how are you getting your slow motion? Using the GoPro mine looks a bit jerky when I slow it down. Are you using special software or just the fast frame rate setting on the GoPro? Thanks.
We use 900mHz, 1.3G and 5.8G links. We'd use 2.4G too if there weren't others flying on 2.4 radio links more often.

Nice..new sub :) I always wanted to fly planes so much easy then 3D helicopter.. I'm going to remove one of my electronics from a 450 size heli..what's a great glider/fvp plane to use my 3S 2200/2600mah with a I think 20/40 amp ESC..already have a 400 size motor and dx6i and servos..just need a nice plane that's cheap and won't break easy/easy to fix
