@@kyleduff5604 yes! If I ever do get my hands on a K98 bayonet in need of restoration I definitely will make a video, im sure at some point in time I will get one to restore, but if you are needing informal now on how to restore one then please let me know and I will get back to you with some information!
Probably from years and years of being removed and put back into the sheath is my guess, it kinda rubs on the sharp side of the blade, also after the war alot of people used them for everyday things which would over time dull them. Although I have no idea why they wouldn't sharpen it 🤷
@@RNLDishostin yes you're correct about that. When the bayonets were issued they came unsharpened, and needed to be sharpened by the soldier. If you have one that seems to have been issued but never used then definitely DON'T sharpen it.
I tried to do a bit of research for you so I hope this helps, I was able to find a few K98 bayonets with the serial number being "9821" like you said is marked on yours, and here's what I found: German K98 bayonet with the serial number 9821 were produced 1943, and were made by E.&F. Hörster. If my research is correct then there should also be a "VV" stamp, as well as a "43 asw" stamp somewhere on the bayonet scabbard or the bayonet itself. If the stamps aren't matching then it's very possible that the bayonet and scabbard somehow got mismatched over the years, possible even during the war. I hope this little bit of information I've provided has helped in someway, and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask! I'd be more than happy to help out in any way possible!

Interesting
my bayonet sheath is 1167 but the blade says 41fnj it is just like this one shown.
Nice! I recently found a K98 bayonet sheath and leather frog holder for the sheath at a local yardsale. My sheath is marked 43fnj
Why are all the WW2 German Bayonets dull ?

@@worldwarboy5619i have heard that the bayonets were issued like this and never sharpened thats why they should not be resharpened
