great video , the best advice you gave is, stick with a dealer you trust. you will pay more but you can go sleep in peace.
Original dagger the wood does sometimes shrink with time
Yes that is true. Usually you can tell the difference between natural shrinkage of 75 year old wood versus incorrect fitting in production. Thanks for watching!
Man, i knew your voice sounded familiar. I've seen you on Whatnot in the past. It's quite surprising that i would stumble across your video. I just recently purchased one of these daggers at an estate sale and kind of took a gamble. From what I can gather, it seems legit. Its a Carl Schmidt and Sohn version. Great video.
Glad you found me! I quit selling on Whatnot, not enough military buyers on that site yet, may try again soon. Congrats on the dagger!!
@@MuchachoMilitaria Thank you sir. ill be sure to keep an eye out in the future if you decide to get back onto WN. In the meanwhile, i will continue to follow you on here as well.

Great video. Do you have any comments on how to spot fake SS dagger chains?
My friend, here is an excellent source of info on chained SS daggers. Scroll down and you will find a detailed discussion on ways to authenticate the chain. www.lakesidetrader.com/Education/Meine-Ehre-heisst-Treue/
A couple things to be on guard against: One, the links should not have a seam on the edges. This is a telltale sign to casting and links were never cast. The links should have perfectly flat backs, there should not be little holes or imperfections from casting. Look at the shape of the clips, some modern repro's now have elongated clips. Finally look at the back of the clips, these were trimmed on 45 degree angles, fakers missed this detail,. Now look at where the chain links rubbed against the connectors. These areas are key. Do they exhibit honest wear?
Kids save your money - it is 99 percent fake.
👍🏻 cool
Flashlight 😊
Few months ago I saw the dagger collection of an old man passed away. A horrible amount of fake fantasy crapshit. His daughter told me he has spended over 70 Gran for it.
Yes I have one of the BA within a cross tradmark Sa daggers having said that it has all original parts does not have the typical red plastic grip but wood silver eagle cross guards I have seen one other in a old collection. Evidently they were made this way as the first ear!y ones before they ran out of parts. I didn't aquire it until 1967 ! So they been out there a whi!e buyer beware as the saying goes. I have also seen the Luftwaffe 2 model by this same old firm. My collecting goes back to 1963 when I bought my first German model 42 for a while nine bucks with shipping. Something I might add the old parts daggers mentioned above I have always seen without a sheath. Good job you do. Just lost my good old collector friend about four years ago had a hole train cabose full. Yes I loved those old times don't get me started on the old gunshots early to late 70's what times and the old crooks and coots were there plenty of good guys too! Days gone by I guess.
Sounds like an interesting dagger! You are lucky to have it. Thanks for your comment sir.
Do you have any reputable dealers you recommend?
