Drill for a horse that won’t slow down.

This is a suggested drill for horses that just won’t slow down. I have mentioned several times that transitions play a big part of getting a horse to wait for your next cue, and hence be waiting, and that means they slow down to make sure they get the cue.
But let’s assume that you have done that and it still doesn’t work….
Start this drill in trot. It may take 2 mins. If the horse dives right, go left, of it dives left, go right. Always opposite to what the horse anticipates.
Then do this at the canter.
This is Bana after a couple weeks of basic training from never being ridden or saddled. So should be relatively easy for any horse to pick up.
