Yup !!! They would have blew up. Instead a bunch of selfish pricks forced him to tour a year to early. Saying he started using in LA is a crock of shit . He he hit the marching powder right back on tour . The metro before or after skinned you can see and hear him take a snort . I really wished they would have let him be for at least a year. The master piece that soup was/is would have found major traction. How could it not that album has 0 bad songs ! No rain is melons worst song.
I would be, except he's still very much alive in the spirit world. And by that I mean nothing to do with any religion. I just mean the place we go when we pass, the same place we go every night when we go to sleep. I'm not just saying I believe this. I've started remembering going there and I've met a lot of people, including my child who died 15 years ago. A lot of people remember their dreams but those aren't the same as being in the spirit world. A dream is something we create right before we come back to our body, a message we want to send ourselves, because we're aware of a lot more there then we are here when we're awake. That's why a dream seems like something that was happening right before we woke up. And people look the same there except their body is made of spiritual matter rather than physical matter. Same with the spirit world itself. So I know Shannon is there because everyone is there. You don't have to believe this and I hope it's ok that I've said it, I respect everyone's right to believe whatever they want. Just thought I'd share.
@@XXgenderloveXYI’m just saying he was a great singer and composer. He was way too young to die and especially under the circumstances in which he did. The fact that he left behind and daughter and loved ones behind only made the situation that much worse. I believe Shannon is in heaven. He was a Christian.
He was so high here it’s sad af. That’s why he said “everyone seems to think I’m handicapped. But, I’m not” he speeds up the tempo drastically within the first two measures. And guess what, it’s cocaine! He died two weeks after this was recorded. This is Shannons swan song. It’s so sad to see him this bad. Don’t get me he played and sang his heart out but for the wrong reason s
@@cremejockey8636 bruh cocaine wasn't his issue. And btw even if he wasn't on drugs artists take artistic liberty with their music so speeding up or slowing down is not even close to being a good indication of someone being on drugs. You don't need to pretend you know what he's thinking when he's playing on stage or writing his lyrics because you don't. You're looking from the outside in so just quit talking out of your ass and enjoy the music
My favorite performance of Blind Melon's Walk. Shannon Hoon was a talented songwriter, guitarist, and a great musician overall. Thank you Shannon Hoon you are greatly missed.
From my memory, when the soup album came out, Blind Melon’s popularity had waned from the “no rain” years. I was not a big fan of no rain, but the new video for this album they had released. Purchased soup and was blown away, listened to the album probably 500x in the next three years, incredible album-“walk”” mouthful” I had taken a road trip to Atlanta in early September of 1995. As me and my friends were leaving Atlanta we heard on the radio a festival that was happening that day in Atlanta that included Blind Melon, did not buy tickets plus we had to drive all the way back to Canada. 1 month later, Shannon passed away.
Guitar, harmonica and vocals all at once was such a talented guy mad at myself for just discovering this greatness a couple years ago. Not a single bad song on self titled album or soup
Hard to Believe Shannon left us about a month after this Performance!!! He was So Amazing!!! A Beautiful Man with a BEAUTIFUL SOUL!!! We will never 4 get you. Thank you for your BEAUTIFUL GIFT OF MUSIC 💥 💥 🦋💥
Every time I watch this, it feels like the last gasp before the final descent. I don’t know how sober he is here, but he sounds much more in control and connected to what he’s doing than other clips after this
I was a little under 9 years old when shannon hoon died, and fortunate enough to own letters from a porcupine vhs in my early teens, one of only 3 concert tapes I owned. Influenced me so much growing up, and to this day I can't understand why they were not more popular than they were. So underrated in every way, and so unique there was and still isn't a band quite like them. Great lyrics, great singer, one of my absolute favorite guitarists. God I love Bmelon.
Shannon is such a fucking great singer...you can tell his voice in this performance is damaged by cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and yet it's almost perfect! Hauntingly beautiful
I agree, I use to watch MM all the time being from the GTA but I don't remember this for some reason. I remember the other I&I's from 96/97 but I didn't know that started doing them in 95. But then again I was only 10 when this was on TV. lol
What a great band. They got a little swallowed up by the grunge era explosion but they were totally unique and didn’t sound like any other band at the time.
Got my bag of excuses i saw them live shortly before shannon died charleston illinois eastern illinois university alice doughnut and dig opened for them dig one of the other most underrated bands of there time
Yeah, that’s no shit about not knowing how great he was… for a long time, his big “claim to fame” was standing on top of that building with Axle Rose on the “don’t cry” video because they were from the same home town area and Axel took to him very quickly… I didn’t ever think maybe either of them really realized that the reason he was taken to Shannon l like that was because the writing was on the wall as clear as if it was in the Manson family’s handwriting… “guns and roses” were the past and “blind melon” was the future… say what you want about fat axle, he was and possibly still is a musician of the highest caliber… he FOR SURE was that caliber in 1993. But Shannon Hoon was more than a great musician. He was a genius and a magician both on and off stage. He was just too good at playing “hide the needle” and “candy land w/new and improved polka dotted heroin tracks” (as seen on tv). But all jokes in bad taste aside… I can put any blind melon album in repeat and just listen all day at work for 10-12 hours per day… even Nico (as short as it is)… it’s 100% great, positive yet sad, deep and absolutely beautiful music. Then again, as a musician myself, I only write at my lowest and I believe that’s where my best sound comes from… so, you can’t have THIS kind of beautiful music without the heart wrenching sadness and honesty that not just Shannon Hoon but THE ENTIRE BLIND MELON BAND GAVE 100% of the time. There’s only one band I’ve ever REALLY cared to play with and that’s the remaining members of Blind Melon… I hope they know how amazing and perfect they are too… they just get lost in Shannon’s wake. It’s a shame, really.
It's a shaker. I recently heard Christopher Thorn talk about the direction of their music after the Soup album. You can hear it on some of the songs on Nico. Songs like this one are the beginning of that movement, with more layered percussion instruments (congos, shaker, etc. Even the cello has its percussion moments).
HAHAaaaHAaaaa, "im sweating, is in hot in hear or is it just me" i think its just him!!!! but thats just my opinion... this guy was the best, to bad he's just dirt in ground now... so sad RIP Shannon. ????? damn man, why could you just not take it easy with the drugs.. damn..SOOOO SAD!!!!
Its insane to me how underrated this band is. One of the best 90s rock bands in my opinion.
This goes beyond words. Blind Melon were on their way to be one of the best, most special bands ever.
Yup !!! They would have blew up. Instead a bunch of selfish pricks forced him to tour a year to early. Saying he started using in LA is a crock of shit . Can we all just agree that this is a perfect song?
+James Dickson yes this song fuckin jams, love Blind melon and shannon is missed so much!!!
For sure
Yes!!
I usually don't agree with people but yes
YES!!!
I am a casual Blind Melon fan and I just discovered this song. Faaaaaakkk! What a great song.
Who else is still having a hard time with Shannon’s loss 25 years later?

It doesn't matter how rich, glamorous or famous a musician is. No one can touch Shannon!!!! He was and is a fucking legend. On and off stage.
Nothing makes me happier than listening to blind melon but sadder than missing Shannon

I love the part at 2:47 where Shannon looks so at peace and genuinely happy
to me this song is Shannon crying out for help, addiction sux ass!!!!!!!!!! RIP Mr. Hoon you are still a great human and musician period......
Been listening to Blind Melon for years but only recently they have burst into my top 5, this song makes me wonder if they’re the best ever.
Blind Melon is tied for #1 with Tool and Alice in Chains
I feel ya!

Almost shed a tear listening to this. He was gone way too soon.
He would be in the Rocking Roll Hall of Fame, it breaks my heart! Everything in moderation folks, too much of anything will kill you~ xoxo
Sharon Peters LMAO Well I’d recommend just not doing hard drugs at all

I say the underrated thing all the time, I believe it was because they came out in the same era as nirvana, soundgarden, AIC, and got overshadowed ...
Totally agree with you underrated
G.o.a.t
Such an underrated vocalist and song writer. Truly missed 😞
This was the song I listened to while paying my respects at Shannon’s gravesite
I still miss this band, and I listen to this song at least once or twice a week. Gone but never forgotten...
