You certainly seem to have the best meals, adding flavours to your instant meals. Make sure my you have warm layers for Washington. A few hikers I’ve been following have got really cold and wet. Thanks for sharing 😊
Nice obsidian at 4:45 mark! I got a lot from Mono Craters in Mono County. My forest tree hugger ranger/ski lift supervisor told me we weren’t supposed to take them. My van barely made it over the mountain on I 70 from the weight of black obsidian and mahogany obsidian, now lining a pond on my Iowa homestead.
Glad you got to go through Three Sisters Wilderness when the air was clear. I was there earlier this summer and saw a slug of thru-hikers that had all skipped forward due to fire - about 45 thru-hikers in one day! They were going north, I was doing the Three Sisters Loop and was heading south on the PCT part of it. That was a very clear day, too. Was up there to do the loop last year, but with smoke everywhere from a fire, I decided to defer the trip and see the lava flows in clear weather. Very much worth it to see the miles and miles of lava flows stretching into the distance. "Mordor" is a word that came to mind for me as well. I'm happy you got a good shot of the Obsidian Creek headwaters. I spent an hour lounging by that creek, but failed to get a picture of the creek coming straight out of that rock pile. Pretty cool. That area is so neat with all the obsidian rock shimmering in the sun.
Passing your phone off to the family sounds like a great idea,.. looking forward to it!

Wow, that's a good win!!!
Read that a long time ago a lot of obsidian was taken from that area to areas where it wasn't available and then traded.
Cool that you are close to your tramily.

Glad you won the pack.
I thought this stretch between Elk Lake and Mackenzie was awesome.

Spent three days on the west side of Three Sisters years ago -- beautiful terrain. Enjoying these looks at the Oregon backcountry, little known to me.
The nights are getting colder much earlier this year in the pacific north west, even on a hot day, so be prepared.
