    Episode 2 - • Grinding the Damascus ...
Thanks for watching episode 1 of the Bowie knife build. This was a first time for me to do a multi-bar twist Damascus pattern, I have done some twisted Damascus knives before but never at multi-bar twit so that was alot of fun.
Make sure to stay tuned for episode 2 where we will continue the build by profiling, beveling and heattreat this knife

Great build so far! Why'd you use 1/2 inch bar stock on the sides when you forged welded the twisted bars together? If you couldn't get those off, that's a hell of a lot of grinding! Nice job though, it's looking great. I think you have enough steel for 2 or 3 knives in that blade!

      Thanks
I used a thick bar stock because I was afraid that the not so wide billet would kinda collapse since my press is not pressing 100 % Straight at the moment.
Unless you press on the side of the billet under welding heat you can ALWAYS get the bar stock of.
Since it’s a twisted pattern the pattern will look better when you grind into it. That’s why I left it a bit thick and also because I didn’t want to stretch out etch rotation in the pattern which will make it less interesting.

Well, I be would never say “always” 😜. Great job so far. I’ve done this build for a chef knife before and it’s beautiful.

      Thansk.
I Think it is worth it. Even though it takes a bit more time the chance of failure is lowered by a lot, so yes I think I will be using it in the future
