    I've watched every video you've posted and learned so much just from watching. The narration present here has been incredibly educational and I appreciate it greatly! Many, many thanks for it! I particularly like the no nonsense approach to it. I don't have to hear about anything that's unrelated to the making of the blade, all of the explanations for details is clear and concise. I would love for you to do this style of video more often. It feels like a blacksmith/bladesmith course. Again thank you so much for this video and all the rest.

    Excellent! I would like to see all your clean cut offs welded together piece by random peace into a sword and see what the pattern is. It would be amazing

    Another beautiful piece mate. I'm a blacksmith/ armourer too, but a serious illness last year has kept me in recovery for a long time and forseeable future so watching you is keeping me inspired. 👍❤️🙂

    It almost seems like a waste when you grind that fuller. So much beautiful steel ending up on the floor. Such amazing skill. Loving the voice over.

      Yes wel. That's how they did dit to get the star pattern. I would prefer forging to shape also. But I lose allot of definition in the pattern when I do.

    Really enjoying these videos! One question - what were the four passes you made intended to do when you were forge welding the bevels on?

  • @mattrich680
    @mattrich680 7 месяцев назад

    Excellent video, thank you for the explanation. Does the layering, especially 4-bar forge welding for this blade, actually make the blade stronger? What is the chance of it breaking or the layers separating if it were to strike medieval armor or another non-layered sword? How sharp did you make this sword? Your grinding abilities are amazing, and I'm always in awe. But wouldn't forging the fuller ('blood groove') be stronger and use less steel?

    Beautiful work as always. I did also wonder why you used the boards to sandwich the blade, whether it was to provide physical compression or if it was a chemical issue to do with the carbon, but apparently it's both. Thanks!

    Do you like the control of twisting by hand? or is it too difficult to spin that twisting jig with something like a drill?

    • @freerkwieringa275
      @freerkwieringa275  7 месяцев назад

      I prefer the hand control. Some smith's have a very strong twisting setup. That WY you can controll the amount very accurately.

    15-20k for that level of craftsmanship? I’m sure that took the better part of 3-4 days just to get there. The pattern is excellent though

      What thickness do you aim for the fuller?
      Explanation is most appreciated, noticed you have done a couple few over the years.
      Thank you in advance.
