In my apprenticeship interview, they asked what I'll be doing after the apprenticeship. I said to continue growing have them sign me up for a new apprenticeship immediately after and said that the moment you think you're done learning, is the moment you've given up.
These are multiple parallel universes. One where Max is getting it wrong, and one where he is getting right. And then there's the hidden one, where he is just plain getting it.
The first interview is actually really good. My foreman loves this shit. Hire people with no prospects that no one else will hire, give them dirt wages to move dirt all day.
THANK YOU SOO SOO SOO SOO MUCH!! it was because of watching this video so many times everyday, I ACED my INTERVIEW for an ADMINISTRATIVE APPRENTICESHIP !!
end of the day, the person interviewing you wants to see that 1. you actually give a shit about the job and not the money or anything else 2. you got what the job application needs for you to actually be able to definetely get the job, just make sure you listen to point one.
As a 3rd year apprentice plumber, with all of the companies I've been with(3 so far) the 'interview' was very informal. Pretty much a 2 minute phone conversation with every single one of them. Two of them didn't even look at my resume before hand. This video does not portray the trade world whatsoever.
I've started an apprenticeship and I play in a band, there will still be just as much opportunity with music as with my plumbing, its called commitment and dedication to your passions and job
this is so unfair. the interviewer should appreciate the fact that he's being completely honest. he would probably turn out to be one of their best workers, but instead they will turn him down and hire someone one who lies to them just to tell them exactly what they want to hear.. this is why so many companies end up with employees who slack off and cheat and steal.... if they would hire the guy who's being honest they would have better employees.
I'm amazed a 17 year old is being interviewed for this. I was in high school then and doing summer jobs but that was all. I am surprised they would sign a minor in high school up for an apprenticeship. I would think you would have to finish high school at least to try this.
Haha - I used to be like this! Dropped out of school. Skateboarded. Played in bands thinking I was going to be a rock star... haha. Took me YEARS to get it right. If you are anything like this first personality, seriously you need to change! Funny looking back at it now! Has a LOT to do with who you hang out with ; )
To anyone who is actually watching this for advice, both of those blew. Interviews are like a first date; just be yourself and be organic. Have firm answers. It shows that you aren't rehearsed and don't say "um.." every other fucking word.
opposite ends of the scale for illustration of course, the first guy was a pretty good communicator compared so some that I meet, I mean he has a reasonable amount of confidence and eye contact
For a construction job???? You will never get a guy from the second interview. He is more of a fortune 500 educated honors student 80,000 a year starting salary. The first interview is much more common of the type of people who are in the construction industry.
To be honest I don’t think the second interview was that great either, he didn’t really speak about his previous experience very much when he was telling the interviewer about himself
I think the first guy was better in most ways. The only thing that would stop me from hiring him is that he sounds like a guy who wouldn't show up at the right time.
This is appalling. It is an interview for an apprenticeship yet the questions he is supposed to ask include 'What training do you offer?' and 'Are there opportunities to gain qualifications?' He doesn't even know what an apprenticeship is. He has no chance of getting the job.
this is a joke. it's literally two different people from different backgrounds, not just phrasing the answers correctly. if the first max wanted to be like the second max, he would need to rethink his entire life - change friends, learn new vocabulary, buy new clothes, etc. He'd have to be a completely different person. Both Maxes were honest but were just completely different people. The first one just wasn't ready to interact in a professional environment. There could be a million reasons why: different parents, different upbringing, financial troubles at home, drug issues at home, etc. The second Max looked like he had been prepared somehow, whether through help from friends and family, or because he'd interviewed before. I understand the point of teaching good habits for interviews but this is actually very prejudice and possibly racist.
+jedrzejku The second Max is not being himself and is being pressured into being something he is not. This kind of attitude is one of the main courses for crippling anxiety and depression in teenagers.
haha the first part almost gave me thoughts about liking the vid but anyways its a great impression the vid is great, its good to know what to do and not to do...
Life is just different. back in the 1990's you didn't have to interview to get into an apprentiship. you just showed up and you were in.
I wish that was still the case :/
Jacob Ayala if it was like that the market would be over saturated and there wouldn’t be much work
its still that way for the less desirable trades
@@kylelariviere8983 Pretty much the same for engineering.

Great advice. I'm a careers adviser, and try to help students to prepare for these things!
but did u get the job? No. So Stfu.
The true strength is where you are so good at your job you get headhunted and skip out the interview all together.
