Just an update, from Swift I went with GTI (Gordon Trucking inc), and this summer I got local with Tiger Lines Trucking. All 3 companies have their strong & weak points...Truth be known if Swift had a local position open up I'd prolly go back, but I would not go back otr unless I had no other choice. Not just otr with Swift, but otr in general, especially with electronic logs being forced on us.
I think it's a shame that companies take advantage of the newbies by paying ridiculous low mile pay. Even with the standard mileage pay for any driver you would think were still back in the 1980's. I think all truckers should get together for a nation wide strike and the USA would completely shut down after 3 days. Drivers need better pay and look at all the hours that are put in, many of which they do not get paid for.
i'm with u bro. u know i did that same comment on a video of a guy from swift and he didn't like it what he did is deleted me so thank you for that great comment
all the big mega trucking companies are like the Army. just work hard for the "pay", follow orders, never leave your post without permission, due you your 1 or 2 years and get an honorable discharge. then you can move on to a trucking company near home, be with loved ones and be paid a fair wage.
Swift trucks have a lot of power...3 trucks in 6 mons....did u make a $1000 a week for swift..add up the hours...24hrs x 7days a week divided by 24 hrs...about $5 a hour...swift is good for exactly what ur doing..get ur experience and run for the hills...
