    Downs is being overlooked and i love it! Downs is a route running machine and gets separation with ease... he can run deep routes with Richardson throwing the ball... when AR was playing he liked hitting Downs fir explosive plays... wont be surprised if he goes over a thousand yards and becomes the most dangerous slot receiver in football...

    I agree about Downs. He's a special receiver.
    I imagine that Pierce will be the starter at the beginning of the season, but he'll be taken off the field in the red zone, and he'll be on the bench by the halfway point. Pierce is a great blocker, and he'll certainly have his share of big plays, but in the end, Pierce is too limited as a receiver to hold down the position.
    AD provides more problems for quarterbacks, because he can break routes to the inside or outside or go deep. Pierce is all deep all the time.

      You guys are replying to this comment are missing one subtlety. If AD still shows signs of taking some plays off or not run blocking, the best way to give him the motivation to excel at that, would be to make him earn it. Would be to not anoint him WR 2, but to give 50% of the snaps to AP in training camp, in preseason. If AD uses this to change his game then look out! He could be an all-time great!

  • @secret_joyce
    @secret_joyce 19 дней назад

    There is a 0% chance Alec Pierce will be re-signed after his contract runs out thru 2026. Most likely scenario is he gets traded next offseason. Saying that AD Mitchell is being "fended off" by Alec Pierce is laughable. The ceiling is way too high on Mitchell. WR's tend to blossom in year 2, this is common knowledge at this point. If AD can muster 500-700+ yards that would something we can build on. My lean is that Michael Pittman will actually lose a fair amount of usage in this offense, Downs and Mitchell will end up being Richardson's favorite targets down the stretch of the season. This will be a run first team anyways, so there isn't much pressure on AD. All of this doesn't even matter if Richardson doesn't stay healthy and start to realize he has a target on his back and defensive players won't hesitate to knock him out of the game intentionally.

  • @alexcastillo9252
    @alexcastillo9252 22 дня назад +5

    AD is not going to take Pierce's spot easily... Colts are a running team and the WR'S need to block... I don't see Mitchell being the starter until he becomes a better blocker... until Mitchell learns to block he's going to be splitting time with Pierce... I think Mitchell gets 30-40% of the snaps until he proves he can be an every down player...

    • @kylelooper2156
      @kylelooper2156 22 дня назад

      I think that AD gets on the field inside the opponent's 40 because Pierce becomes less valuable the closer you get to the red zone. AD starts to get touchdowns, and that's his path to supplanting Pierce.
      Really, all that AD needs to do is to be as good a blocker as Marvin Harrison, which was basically just getting between the corner and the play for a second or so.

      @@123shoshan he does get open... go watch some tape... he was open for a walk in touchdown twice a game last year and minshew either didn't see him or didn't have the arm strength... he was drafted to be a deep threat and that's what his role is... your a casual fan if you think blocking by WRs isn't important especially on a running team like the Colts... Mitchell isn't going to just walk in and be the starter until he learns to block... Pierce will get 60% of the snaps until Mitchell proves he can block at a high level...
