    One might turn to the Holy text for prose poetry: The World Doesn’t End by Charles Simic. While composing a biographical text, he kept receiving the urge to pen fantastical phrases regarding his upbringing in a world overshadowed by the whims of dictators; and thus he created his own personal creation myth. He decided to turn these fairy tale versions of his emotional memories into poems and gather them into a collection. Simic is my poetic north star. Thank you for all that you share on your channel. Your thoughts and videos are sublime sustenance for us hungry few.

    Brilliant analysis.
    Thank you.
    Also, the production of this video is in keeping with poets and their purpose...with the readings in theatrical voice, the background music and on location settings. It all helps to put us, the audience, in a place of deeper experience.

      Thanks ever so much. Thrilled you had that experience. That voice, by the way, is Geoffrey Hill reading his own work. :)

    Such cinematography and yet thoroughly grounded in a web of writing of all kinds stretched around the central mythic ideas. Very addictive . Really a new kind of journey into a wide landscape of literature. Sensitivity to “links”, webs, lattices. Unbelievably appreciated. Long exhale.

    Beautiful video. On the subject of the formless, the dark void of creation soothed beneath the artist's brush, I think of Keats' "Ode on a Grecian Urn:"
    Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard
    Are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on;
    Not to the sensual ear, but, more endear'd,
    Pipe to the spirit ditties of no tone:
    The "ditties of no tone," unheard and unimagined, remain untainted by the touch of subjective experience. They represent true creation, and in this poem, are personified by the musician playing the aulos, frozen on the urn for all immortality, forever lost in the thrall of their very last note.

    This was such a beautiful and interesting video 😍 Thank you!
    I don’t think I’ve read that many poems like this, but regarding myths I really enjoy Crow.

    Well, Ovid's Metamorphoses comes to mind, or parts of it, only because I've been studying it again recently and it was known by all poets you list here. Thank you for this. Lovely both visually and aurally.
