It's Chris, so glad you did it. Turns the direction of U2 doesn't it. Such a great dark track.
Good pick 👍
The Edge on fire! 🔥
U2's back catalog is absolutely incredible they cover absolutely every musical style out there and that is what makes them unique, every time they do a new tour they recreate the delivery of old songs including Bullet the blue sky and it is epic every time as another huge fan of theirs Noel Gallagher former Oasis legend once said U2 are so fffffing good live they make me sick.
If there is any song that displays the evolution of U2 as live performers, it is this one. From the simple spotlight on Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum tour, to the CNN/War vibe of ZooTV, to the commercialization of war on PopMart, with its colorful pop-art planes, to the earnest more real/world drama of this tour (Elevation and the early 2000s, to the story telling and theatre of the second decade 2000s Experience tours, which elevated all the previous versions along with a more personal reflection, that is easily translated to the greater whole.
It's not merely the visuals and storytelling. Each tour the song sook on different sonic character as well. At times incorporating more funk, or raw post punk, or pop, or blues,
The 2015 perforce of Bullet The Blue Sky is peak concert performance. I would say it is peak art of any type of live performance. It weaves its external social commentary deep into a personal journey. The song literary taking you through the different perspectives of rebellious youth into a more reserved adulthood, but one that is pragmatic. A real conversation finding faults and values in both, within an internal struggle. A struggle that exist not only as a politicized dogmatic two-side monster but one that exists within the same person.
Probably getting a big in my head for a YT comment, however the performance takes you to it.

Rory, I’m loving your U2 journey! Thank you❤
Banger of a tune for u2
Great track and an even better performance. Saw them on the ZooTV tour, mid-90's & then in 2001 in MSG right after 9/11. Transcendent live band!
Welcome to U2’s best song
One has just entered the room 😮.
@@lfcgero35Yeah BTBS is great but One is reigns supreme.
Sometimes forgotten by some fans because of The Edge, Bono, and Larry brilliant job,
Adam Clayton is on fire here, like more he always is.
Powerful performance by U2, have this show on DVD.
So so so much to discover at U2. They have done so much. Watch this Live from Paris.
Great song...🔥🔥🔥🔥
"delicate, fey" bono vs solid lump 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 great tune, very great reaction as always
Wait until you react to their ZooTV tour songs. Until the end of the world and New Year’s Day songs will blow your socks off. I can’t wait. Love your reactions!
Great review. This is an 80’s track, it was an album track off the Joshua tree in 1987
Live U2 are a different animal. Outstanding Live
See All I want is You / where the streets have no name for Slane Castle 2001
God Part II
Look for The live version of Bullet the blue sky in Paris
I saw U2 on this tour in 2005. The "rant" section is different than the album. I think most of the lyrics starting with "Pull the trigger....." and ending with "What's my name? Chapman!" sound like they are referring to the assassination of John Lennon. I don't recall hearing this version before.
The song is from 1987 - but this performance looks early nineties, Gulf war era? Bono preaching.. and now you see why they sometimes got flack later in their careers for meeting with world leaders etc. I can honestly say that this band has drifted in and out of my life but their music has lifted me up in some of the darkest times of my life - helping me to hang on ( maybe to my stubborn Irish roots ) so I could live to fight another day. Two tracks I love sooooo much are Love Comes Tumbling and The Three Sunrises (in that order) off the mini album Wide Awake in America (1985) - Love Comes Tumbling I can, and have, played on a loop - for hours at a time. @LydellC - you like those two? My other fav of Joshua Tree is Running to Stand Still.. strangely, I don't care very much for the three big hits on that record. LOL.
This is from 2001 Elevation Tour
Truly one few bands that addressed America gun problem
The name Bono shouts at the end (Mark Chapman) is the idiot that killed John Lennon.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It would be interesting to see reaction from Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum era performance, to ZooTV. This song is a great comparison, but Desire may be another good one, for the sake of showing evolution.
Maybe my favorite U2 song
Should review the Paris 2015 bullet the blue sky version epic.
Watch ultraviolet from 360 tour live… get in❤
Chose the wrong version. The Paris 2015 version is the one to see. It is epic. Bono takes it to another level (uses a bullhorn).

Yes the paris version is off the scale
How about some live Radiohead from 2017 or so? Norm Macdonald and Jesse Lee Peterson also 😊❤
Well, this isn't the version I would have picked for a few reasons, mainly one big one towards the end...
prob my favorite off of Joshua Tree
Try reacting to 'Mofo' live from Popmart. Another completely different side of the band.
