Hungary was at that time was a kingdom. Horthy was not it's prime minister he was it's governor (because he didn't declared himself to be the King of Hungary). It's prime minister probably changed to the leader of the democratic partys leader (since there was an election), but he is not the one in charge. And since Horthy is leading a kingdom, Hungary can't go democratic until horthy is deposed via the focus tree. It's a bit like how legally Queen Elizabeth II. is the leader of the UK.

Vichy France: literally no one ever plays it and it gets a focus tree instead of Italy

Playing Germany in HOI4 and winning is really easy for me even on elite difficulty. But playing as the U.K. or France and defeating Germany is too difficult. My rules are that I need to follow history exactly how it happened, Except defeating Germany as France. Which has been a struggle for me.
Seeing how good you are, I was wondering if you could make a video on how to defeat Germany as France but only when Germany attacks you. So that means that you are not allowed to attack Germany when they want to remilitarise Rhineland. And the other rule is that you or the Allies need to take all the German victory points and Italian so that the Axis falls. No coups or boosting popularity.

Ya, even the devs admitted that Germany is stupidly strong for next to no reason, in their tests, Germany only lost because they attacked the Benelux in 1938ish, or got pushed back by the Soviets

Thomas De Man there’s a video called the ‘Meganot’ line and it extends the Maginot Line to the Benelux. It’s fairly easy you have to maneuver your way through Germany. Never tried it but in my opinion it looks averagely difficult
Man, I am amazed that they made the intelligence game so fun and engaging. I was really expecting it to be kind of dull but I'm halfway through the video and loving it.

The best part is that the Communist tree for France gives you missions to start civil wars in other majors in Europe.
I tried to go to monarchy as france and so I supported the nationals on spain... The civil war turned 3 way and as soon as I sent an army down to finish spain quickly the communists started a revolution... The borders...

I really like how spies just tweak a couple of background stats... nothing too important... except those stats drive everything you can possibly do as a country... so you can just make them lose a war by being unable to fight it.
Also I don't think you were supposed to be able to get 31 spies :S but, I guess you can...

I don't think you can do this anymore. I tried staging coups in some majors and it seems that the stability decrease is capped at -20%. At some point they also react to their stability getting low so they start using counter intelligence more aggressively and stability increasing ministers. You can only get it low enough for some minor countries that already have low stability. I did manage to start some coups in minor countries but they got squashed very quickly. I suppose it could be useful if you ally with the rebels just to use their territory to easily land your troops on another continent without having naval supremacy. Decreasing stability still is really useful because just because I lowered the USSR's stability by about 15% the Axis AI managed to capitulate them which I've never seen the current AI do on it's own.
Update: everything is going well!
Meanwhile Poland and Italy are kicking the USSR's ass.

For those who don't know he is a Yugoslavian most successful agent who did double agent stuff in Britain and Germany during WWII. It is also known that he is the inspiration for Ian Fleming's James Bond and number from James Bond got his nickname is hotel number which Dusko used ( ends with 007 )

The patches have changed this a lot, but still very possible. I was able to orchestrate a coup in 1939 and German Reich was taken over by german republic at the end of 39'.
You know what i have never seen done in Hoi IV? Giving up Sudetenland as Czechoslovakia but then refusing to be Annexed in the Fate of Czechoslovakia focus.
HoI4 is one of those games I enjoy watching more than playing it for myself... Really enjoy the vids!
