One question, how do you uninstall a game that you installed via Lutris?
Right click the game and remove it in lutris. It should delete the game folder, if not you can manually delete it.

Can you make a video about deck internal and external drives structure? I'm new to linux and I'm confused where should put my games directory for non steam games. Unlike windows drives structure, linux seems to be different from what I observed in video.
For example, if I want to install games directly on SD card where is the folder path? I'm total blind at this. Likewise if I want to choose a different folder path for internal drive what it is called? The folder path for naming-numbering stuff puts me in difficult spot.

Perhaps in another tutorial you could install steamunlocked games? Tried doing Transformers War for Cybertron a few different ways like using Heroic, Lutris but not getting it to launch.

I really wanna just break down and cry. So, after too many attempts at installing Dave the Diver, I removed the window from Lutris and it deleted MY WHOLE GAMES directory. WTF kind of crap is that all about? I feel so damned defeated.
When you delete the game it gives you a warning that it will remove the game directory.

Well, here I go again. At least I only lost the progress of 1 game. Hadn't gotten to play the others. Starting all over.
No idea why they'd make that a thing. Needs a better setup than that. IMHO (edit) Thankful I have your tutorials and will be mindful of that terrible [Delete Your Game Folder?] option. At least this run thru, I've been there/done that and things should go smoothly. Thanks again!!!

Hi, I installed NFS Carbon and transferred to the deck.. used Lutis to mount it with Wine and the game started in portrait mode.. couldn't get it to work with desktop or game mode please help.. thanks

Mine won't download epic games store launcher.. it says " failed to retried wine (none) information"

Dumb question: in the configure settings and runner options for lutris, when I select wine it says that I don't have wine. I installed wine but it still says this. How do I fix?
Left hand side of lutris have wine tab, click manage versions to download and install wine.

Downloaded the game, downloaded the update, it show me on yuzu, when I start Black screen and close yuzu automatically.....the other title works fine

I am new to Lutris. I downloaded fitgirl 's Amnesia The Bunker to my laptop and copied the game folder to my steam deck desktop. I used Lutris to instal and everything works fine. Can i delete the game folder i copied to my steam deck desktop or is Lutris still using that game folder? i wanna save some space
Also you didt mention that sometimes the lutris does not point to the game executable file after installation. In my own case, it was pointing to the configuration file hence when l launch in steam, it opened the configuration file for the game. I had to right click the game tab in lutris and then configure to the real executable file.
You can delete the installation file/folder, but not the game folder with the game's exe. And yes lutris sometimes points to the wrong file.
What website did you say you used again? Ive tried Dodi and fit girl it makes me do the instillation on all the games again after I powered off!!!

I used Heroic but Lutris fits my use case. I just need a visual video to see where I am going wrong with the SD card install. I don't load from an exe file as you have shown in your video since I have already linked the Lutris to my GOG account and I have all my games there, just need to install said games from there. Yet, when I do point to my SD card, it somehow becomes a prefix within a prefix situation. So, a video walk through would be great. Being able to use steam inputs would be nice. @@GrownUpGamingGUG

There's are many ways to do it. Do t have to use lutris if you don't want to.
Depends on the game. Mass Effect 2007 needs a handful of things from protontricks to get it working 100% and in game FMVs still black screen 😂

Hey, I keep getting an error when trying to run quacked games, saying that I have no wine prefix. However, this is not due to the lack of wine prefixes, but due to the fact that lutris keeps deleting it. Any ideas?
Try using different runner options.

I am trying to run and install the PC port of Dino Crisis with the Rebirth mod including the HD textures and audio remasters. I followed a guide to configure those, but putting it through Lutris is not working. It tells me that my winetricks are outdated no matter what preset I select. What is the problem with Lutris?

@@GrownUpGamingGUG I actually got it running but the audio wasn’t working right for me. I didn’t hear character footsteps or sounds from door animations. Everything else seemed fine.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG All sounds work except for characters walking and doors opening/closing. I had the Rebirth mod installed including the HQ video and HQ audio. I don’t know if it’s normal or not.

There's many methods you could go about. Don't fixate yourself to only one method.

You gotta find it. I think all windows games have an exe to launch. Or maybe the game didn't install properly.

I can launch the game through Lutris but I can't launch you through steam. Any idea why that's happening? No worries I'll look elsewhere to see if I can find the solution for it.
Lutris you are using wine most likely. Add non-steam you are using proton. There could be a dependency the game needs and wine has it installed already while proton you need to install it manually to make it work. Check steamdb.info to see what the dependency the game needs.

New SD user since today, when I set up Lutris et try to install a game (step at 1:20 in the video), I have an error message “invalid wine prefix path make sure make sure to create the prefix before saving to a registry“

does the path you are pointing to exists or accessable? if not, maybe create a prefix folder somewhere you can access and point to it before installing.

Yes you can. I like to do it that way too. But lutris has it's benefits too, for example, you can set your own prefix folder location.
Tried to do this with Streets of Rage 4 and got a 512 error. Not sure where I went wrong.
Not sure, haven't installed that game before. But worst case you can play that game with yuzu. Not much difference compared to PC version I think.

Yes its running great, until 3 or 4 attempt to run any game, and get error message about prefix path, that error deleted existing prefix folder. Weird
did you try other games? maybe the problem is with the game you are trying. if other games works fine, then it's not the issue with lutris, it may be the game only.

have you tried install games with steam non-steam game? don't use lutris if it gives you problems.

Could you try Sleeping Dogs (the original, not the definitive edition)? I tried it myself using lutris and installing the dependencies (vcr 2008/2010 and directx) but it immediately closes after launching with the latest version of lutris proton GE

you can create a prefix folder (a contained windows environment) wherever you want. inside the prefix folder there is a c: where you can install your games.

If it's a zip then unzip, if it's an install file then install like any other program. Just do it, nothing bad will happen.

When i add the game shortcut for steam and enter steam in gaming mode I have the path of the game wrong and i have to browse and save the right one under Games/..... etc etc. Why?

Something with flatpak at the end. I have to change to the right path: /home/deck/games/folderofthegame/nameofthegame exe. Also start in is not right and lutris put "/usr/bin". Usually this is void. I create the path using lutris" add steam shortcut"@@GrownUpGamingGUG

Try create a steam_appid.txt in game folder and put the game id inside the txt file.

it's just a text file. then inside the text file you put the steam id of the game you are playing. this might help your situation.

Difference between this and emudeck?
emudeck is for playing emulated games. lutris is for installing non-steam pc games.

Some games need to install dependencies like directx. Try using winetricks in lutris to install it.
