    Hey Nate, I would reconsider the electric fan idea, I did it on a vehicle of similar engine size and a much lower weight than your motorhome, was not good, the electric was the highest cfm available and it always ran hot, I got a new mechanical fan with clutch and a new shroud and even on the hottest days it never went over 190 degrees, even with heavy loads it ran cold, so id get a new clutch for your fan blade and a new shroud and then for your application cut into quarters with a way to reattach the pieces back together, as it looks like a new shroud in one piece would require radiator removal,

    • @collapse4068
      @collapse4068 3 года назад

      I agree. Mechanical fans are much better for this type of application. Another thing is making sure to not get rid of the shroud , it does a lot. Not to mention always worrying about if your electric fan is working or came on etc. If i were him i would get a new shroud and keep the mechanical setup.

    You should’ve replaced the front seal while you had the damper off, also apply light grease or oil to the to the race the seal rides on

    Need to use high flow electric fans if you want to replace that mechanical. The mechanical fan flows a lot of air on those.

    Keep the clutch fan. It’s way more reliable than electric fans by far. Also those $20 tools is 10x easier and faster. Chances are unless you’re a mechanic you’ll likely never use that puller again. I’ve built a couple thousand engines or more over the past 30yrs and the cheap puller with a zip zip from an impact or air ratchet and it’s off.

    Ah a new 710 plug. Keep your old fan parts, me thinks you will go back to it in the near future. I do not think the electric fans will deliver near the same volume of air to handle engine cooling and air conditioning. Plus, electric motors just stop when they fail.

      @@ryanscott2548 I let him a comment to replace them. The chain can last , but it will be stretched and the cam gear has a nylon coating and will be all cracked and ready to fall apart if it’s the original.

    • @stewoe7157
      @stewoe7157 2 года назад

      Yup, first thing you should do on those old engines, is put a new chain and gears in. Those engines are pretty bulletproof, exept for those stupid nylon gears. Whoever came up with that must have been one of the worst engineers ever.

    Probably not a good idea to destroy the fan shroud.electric fans are a pain and they draw a lot of power. I'm pretty sure your front grill is designed to come apart to access the radiator and shroud

  • @jangofet3756
    @jangofet3756 3 года назад +1
