Just started trying to learn SketchUp and watching a lot of videos has really impressed me the level of talent you have in making this look so easy. Most of the time I become frustrated but still not giving up because this is a skill I would like to have. Just wanted to say thanks for the time you put in to making these videos. They are very helpful. I was a welder for 30 years and also a weld inspector and teacher. Looking at welds and welding this way is very interesting and could be a great teaching tool for new welders as well as experienced welders. I never thought about bringing the two together but I also never thought a welder would be watching these videos either. Once again, good job and thanks for the time you take to make these videos and by the way, your weld wasn't that bad. Over the years I have seen a lot worse so there is hope for you yet. thanks again!
Great video. I've used SketchUp before and have recently purchased a 3D printer and am currently building a Ghostbuster proton pack. I wanted to give it a more authentic look by added imperfect weld beads. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Many thanks!
Thanks Aaron. Handy but don't be afraid of a nice looking weld. Can see this bringing my computer down to it knees though. Already need to simplify some models due to the size.
Great I have been wondering about this. old tanks have welds like that. Also what is that colour pencil material picker you use? is it just a mac thing or an extension?
If my welding tutor saw such a seam after beating off the slag, he would never have taken my exam. I think many real welds feel uncomfortable looking at this welder from a modeler :D:D:D
