My favorite rock shop in Oregon...
It really is amazing.
I wonder if when you go to a marvelous place like this you feel overwhelmed by all this incredible beautiful and unique rocks, and you don’t know what to look or choose is a dizziness kind of feeling!
I made it!!! So happy to be here
Hurray!
I was watching a video earlier, I learned something new from you. I thank you so much. My grandma was born Mary Ellen Wheeler in 1901, she married Jasper Newton Persful. Now my favorite rock is MARY ELLEN JASPER. I didn't know there was a rock called Mary Ellen Jasper! Thanks
Such a great rock shop….plan to go this fall!! Thanks for the video, loved it.
Thanks for watching! :)
Uh oh, another place to put on my list! Thank you for showing us a nice sampling of what's available at Richardson Ranch.
Visit if you can!
Wow!! That petrified wood was jaw dropping! Beautiful stones from all over the world, sounds like a little piece of paradise to me! It’s nice you got to spend the day with your parents at such a cool location!!👍😀
I could spend all day there.
How could you not come home with a large chunk of something beautiful!? I would need a bigger car
I actually flew in to Oregon this time, so a huge chunk was not in the cards.
I just LOVE your video's!!! Thanks so much for sharing this info! I have to say, your mom looks SO much like my husband's mother, it spooked me when i first seen her standing just behind you!
How cool is that?! Is she Swedish?
Those "splinters" of petrified wood look like the little pieces I find in the North Saskatchewan River. The edges are so smooth and straight that they look like bits of 2x4 - but there were no saws 300 million years ago!
How cool!
They really have quite the assortment at the shop.
:D So many beautiful rocks!
Thank you for taking us with you
Thanks for coming along!
Love the petrified wood. It may be the only hardwood left in the near future. So it's truly a treasure!
What a sad thought! Thanks for watching.
I could get lost in there for weeks. I seen several rocks I would love to have. The African Blue Lace agate....... I got some that’s baby blue in color. Another great video, looking forward to the next one.
Yes, the blue lace is amazing.
I think that if I went there, I would not leave until my pickup was so full that the trailer hitch dragged all the way home.
Ha, that would be a sight!
Always fun to see your videos
Thanks, John!
Rock shops in general are some of my favorite places, but this particular one seems so big and extra amazing. Thanks for sharing!
It is definitely EXTRA amazing.
Wow! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for sharing KD, much appreciated!👍 Love Richardson's Rock ranch, used to be even better when you could go dig a bucket of thundereggs in a couple hours but still worth a trip over a couple times a year to visit Bonnie and John. Always end up spending a couple hours just looking through the pretty stuff~ Thanks again for bringing us along~
Why did they stop letting people dig?
@@juju4842 Hey Julie, I do not know everything about it but as I understand the situation from speaking with them directly, there were a few major factors in their decision including the cost of Liability Insurance, an unfortunate family matter, changing crowd of customers, etc, etc and most important for their well being, they really want/wanted to retire soon. They're super nice folks with a ton of knowledge and if you get the chance to I would highly recommend a visit if nothing else than to see all the beautiful material and chat with Bonnie and John.
Thanks for coming along!
@@juju4842 one guy ruined it for every one he was digging in the wall and that's a big no no at the ranch . The floors are full of eggs and no reason to take a chance on the walls collapsing
Good to know that your parents are there with you.
Because you inherited the saw from your dad I wondered if he was still with us.
It's so good that he can see your work.
Rebecca, I actually thought about that when I said "inherited," as it does give the impression of an estate. I am grateful to still have them with me.
@@KatyDidRocks my kids say that they inherit things they take from my house... it's a estate dwindling away.
I'm grateful that I can enjoy them using things...as I'm sure your parents are too.
Great vacation ride along😊. Liked those pieces with core remove to use for planters.
Yeah, they are so cool!
Wow I’m going! Thanks Kate 😉
Nice! Have fun!
That serape jasper is gorgeous!❤
I think so too!
What an amazing place. It would be dangerous (for my wallet) if I lived too close to that place. That being said, if I get the opportunity it will definitely warrant a long stop!
DOOOOO EEEEEEET! :D
I live half hour away and I drop a few hundred now and then for rock s I turn into jewelry and mancala game pieces and diamond pacific wheels and lapidary supplies
@@magapickle01 Ooooh, I bet that's cool!
We have been there several times over the years, digging around the ranch. Never disappointed us yet. The selection out front was amazing. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
I heard that they stopped all digging, but I don’t know why. It would be a great place to explore!
@@juju4842 I think it was liability. Stupid people want to sue for something the stupid persons do
It is a great spot.
I think liability was part of it - but Bonnie indicated it was more being sick of people being awful. :(
@@sandmaker That's so sad...people are freakin dicks.
Gorgeous!!!
I agree. :)
Those are some big pieces of wood! Very nice!
Yep, 100% crazy!
Sure would like to get my hands on some of that serape jasper!!! Wow!
isn't it awesome!?
Wow what a place, interesting video Katy. I cant imagine the excess baggage charges for me flying home after a visit there. It'd be cheaper to charter a C-130.
:D I am lucky enough to have my son driving through my parents' home with his Jeep very soon, on his way to my house.
Would love to go there. Wouldn't be hard to spend a couple of days just looking. Thanks!
It is very cool! Thanks for watching! :)
What a great video! Saw a lot of things that are new to me. Thanks!
Fantastic! Glad you saw some new and cool things.
What beautiful rocks! Did you leave them all there? I wouldn't have been able to. Thanks for sharing, and it was lively to see your parents.
:D I picked up a few.
you can soak the cristals in muriatic acid to clean the rust from them.
So many rocks to look at there and from all over the world! Beautiful 🤩
It was a fun afternoon.
Eso es el paraíso!!!!
🤩🤩🤩
It really is!
The crystal collector on youtube had a video of that colourful petrified wood (when you said you wished they were labeled where they were found). He said where he was finding it on his video.
I'll look into it!
Looks like Chinle formation stuff.
O…m…g…! Amazing!
Yep, it's a really cool place.
Wow,move over TJMaxx, that is one rocking 😎 place I need to visit !
Who needs new leggings? :D
Amazing
Yees!
I didn't know petrified wood would ( tongue twister ) fall apart like that. I think I would break down & have a cry over that ! Lots of pretty stones there. Those with the big round cutouts would make really nice planters. If they have a comment box, tell them to install a sprinkler system. It would boost their sales or they could charge for a good rock wetting. PS. Is that Richardson Texas or elsewhere ??
It’s in Oregon - near Madras. 😊
@@KatyDidRocks I was hoping it was in Texas. Because it would only be an hour or so's drive away. Thanks !
Oooh...I wish I could have gone to this place when I was in Oregon!!! But it’s only 900 miles away from me 😞
It is definitely a must-see.
looks like an amazing place Kate. We call Mookite, Mookaite here in oz and i have a couple of polished slabs in my collection. I believe it to be a variety of jasper. There is also a stone very similar called Dookaite.. Thanks fot taking us along.
Mookaite is a better name for something from Mooka Creek. :) Someday I'd love to go to oz...
@@KatyDidRocks always a welcome and a rock hunting trip for you here Kate..we live in central queensland with the great barrier reef to our east and the outback and all its wonders to the west..i feel blessed everyday.
I've heard so much about that place. Definitely on my list. I'd get into alot of trouble with all the amazing rocks. Would spend sooo much money, lol! Loved the Serape Jasper and Mookaite most. Thanks for sharing 😊
Yes, we spent an absurd amount when we were there. :)
@@KatyDidRocks hahahaha! I bet 😁👍
Wow, I could do some awful damage to my wallet at that location. I really enjoy finding my own but there are some items there that I would love to have. Just one of each would do and a large truck to transport it.
Then I would have to buy the bigger equipment to work with it. 😂😂 my superannuation might take a hit as well. So glad that is not down here. 😂😂
Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
It is an amazing place. Thanks for watching, SB!
Mookaite!
MmmmmHMMM!
Mookaite is a jasper. I've never seen petrified wood flake like that either. Must've had white rot before the silicification process maybe?
That seems like a good thought.
Wow! Wow! Wow! On my bucket list. Good question - does hard coral get harder as a fossil? I guess it depends on what the fossil is formed with. Nice video - thanks!
Thanks for joining me!
Man, that "squirt squirt squirt" sounds so archaic and out of place in one of your vids :-D :-D :-D
Wow so many awesome rocks! Where is this place, I'd love to visit it some day.
It is near Madras, Oregon - Richardson Rock Ranch. You definitely should put it on your list!
I like your video 🥰🥰🥰❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥New subscriber to your channel
Thank you so much 🤗 Welcome.
@@KatyDidRocks You welcome😍
IS RICHARDSON'S OPEN???? last i heard it was closed and i was so sad... where else am i going to get my Blue Bed Thundereggs!!! Please let me know!
Hi - no, Richardson’s is closed to digging - but their rock shop is open. Blue Bed thunder eggs are available for sale.
One mans jasper is another mans rhyolite. Actually they are not the same but whatever.....
Not the same at all! I find it interesting that many "jaspers" are not jaspers at all - bumblebee jasper, for instance.
Suure wish u could turn up your voice when you record yourself talking? We old farts cant hear u without headphones. Its to hot for head phones . Leave any rocks out in the weather and they melt back to dirt.
Nothing lasts. forever including our plsnet we call earth..
I'm sorry about the voice quality. I didn't have my microphone on the phone during this one - I'll try to do better. Be well!
