    Incredible the number of players here who'd go on to be premier league coaches in their own right (if not very successfully).
    Shows the type of characters this squad had - intelligent players, hard workers, leaders. If you take Keane, Hughes, Cantona, Bruce, Robson etc., you've got a host of captains to choose from.

    There is something about the really Top managers where even on the first day they look like they are Top drawer. Same with people like Klopp and Mourinho when he first arrived at Chelsea. They just look confident and strong.

    There is something about getting 6 years to win anything and almost getting sacked and then getting lucky.

      😆😆 6 years? Appointed in Nov ‘86 won FA Cup in his 3rd full season.

    • @seankelly3774
      @seankelly3774 3 года назад

      @@ClassicManUtdVideos 1990 that is 4 years. 6 years for the league, Wenger won it in his 2nd season. If 1 FA cup in 4 years for a teal like United is classed as success fill ya boots but no managers nowadays get that time. Look at United since, 4 or 5 mangers since he left and with his input (especially Moyes) so clearly not great at picking the managers.

      United have always been a big club but had not won a title since 1967 when Ferguson took over in 86. Apart from a from a few years under Ron Atkinson when United were consistent challengers they hadn’t come close to a title since busby left I believe , so the knives weren’t out after 6 months like you would see today. It also so wasn’t like the global force you see today and the owner/chairman clearly see what Ferguson was doing at the club and gave him the time to win that first title. Maybe your gripe should be with owners of today who are too trigger happy or don’t have a modicum of loyalty to managers they employ. I’m sure after reading the original comment the individual is trying to provoke a reaction but he strikes me as the modern era fan who thinks success is something that can always be achieved in an instant. Where as the type of success United achieved under Ferguson for 20 odd years takes more than just throwing enough mud at a wall and hoping some of it sticks. Fergie was the best and I’m sure there’s an alternate timeline where someone with the same mind as Sean Kelly is owner of man United and he sacked Fergie in 1990 and they’re still striving for a title. Paints a very good picture. - All this from a hopefully very unbiased Liverpool fan

      People go on and on about the time he was given... That was not remarkable and his Man U side was very, very good before they had a trophy....
      The remarkable thong for me (a Gooner from London) is how back in 88/89/90 acquaintances and colleagues who were Man U fans were SCREAMING for him to be sacked. They were demanding it. They were pleading for it. Thousands at home games.
      Find me one of those people now.... If you ask now, everyone knew he was special and just needed time. Hmm.... There is still video of the chants and the placards....
      But he is a man of great skill, passion and vision. And how I dislike him for all three qualities...
