Some of the cold/hot dispensers cost about the same as single function water coolers. When I was looking for one that only dispensed chilled/room temp water, I learned that the chilling chambers often only hold a small amount of water. For room temp only water, we've been using a countertop gravity-based ceramic dispenser that the 5-gallon jug sits atop of. It works great and cost less than $40 at Lowe's. We've been using that water for the coffee maker and clothes iron, etc so as to avoid mineral build-up. After pricing coolers out - we have decided to go with the hot/cold dispenser for convenience. We use a dehydrated dog food that needs warm water to reconstitute and I hate using our unfiltered tap water (it is hard and tastes weird to us) so it'll be nice to have hot water handy and not have to use the tea kettle filled with filtered water.
