      Actually, you could leave from the road you start on at almost any point in the game.
      But you might be thinking of denying help after being tied to the railroad tracks.
      That happens when you enthusiastically say you want to join the guy bullying the girl, they don't even let you fight, they just beat you up in a cutscene and leave you tied to railroad tracks.
      You can squirm, but there's no way to escape, eventually the opposing samurai clan comes by and offers to help you for a price. If you deny that a train will come and give you a big kiss.
      I love that series for how the decisions affect the game in progress, not just the endings.

    In Mortal Shell if you bring the NPC called Baghead several items, that can all be found in the starting area, he essentially asks if you want to sit and chill with him. If you agree it triggers a cutscene where you sit by the fire with Baghead, jamming out on a lute, while monsters overrun various brigand camps, followed by the credits rolling. Technically the game doesn’t actually end though as you get kicked back to the last check point after the credits end

    I've heard of how Witch's House ends before but I can't help but suspect, in the proper ending, Ellen goes through the puzzles of her own house for two reasons
    1, She's a sadistic little twit.
    2, to ensure Viola's death, in a way that absolutely reinforces 1.

      So, I only played the original a long long time ago and maybe the remake made things clearer but - continued spoilers:
      I thought Ellen's diary entries followed by the escape sequence were implying that Ellen lured Viola into the house in hopes of some horror delivering her body to her that way, then chased her around when all else failed to finally catch the body you've been piloting this whole time. Point is, in my head-canon, the ending was a "good ending" in that Viola escapes safely and Ellen was put a stop for once and for all. Still sad and brutal that a desperate little girl who spent the last of her talents and mortal life reaching for a life without suffering was outfoxed and shotgunned for her efforts. The Viola-was-Ellen-from-the-start of it all is wild to me!

    • @Sylfa
      @Sylfa Год назад +43

      @@2LettersSho Hate to break it to you, but if you do the hardest ending the scene at the end is a bit more filled out. Then as they enter the forest Ellen stops fleeing and has a conversation with Viola. Amongst other things she tells Viola she will take care of her father for her, and calls her directly by name. Then after that conversation Viola's father arrives and it plays out very similarly to the regular ending. Except Viola more clearly says "father" and "help me" before getting shot. And Ellen stays on screen for a few seconds after dad walks away, laughs at Viola and then runs off.
      Essentially, Ellen who had lived with her failing body could manage the pain much better than Viola could, especially with the maiming. So once the swap happened Ellen just left the house and was heading out of the forest when Viola manages to order the house to stop her. The house, being magical but not smart enough to know it wasn't Ellen giving it orders does so.
      That's why you can get a cheap ending by just remaining outside until Viola dies, as the house is using Ellen's original bodies magic to function. It's a shame there's no way to get a good ending where Viola is freed, but that's horror games for you I suppose.

    • @Sylfa
      @Sylfa Год назад +17

      I think it's option 3, Ellen doesn't want to sit around and wait for Viola to die. She wants to enjoy her new life after all. So she simply goes in to ensure she can get out of there as fast as possible. Canonically she knows all the traps and quirks of the house so she's not really risking anything.

You're meant to be this Almighty creator of these little raposa and one begs for your help at the start of the game to save them. If you say no, the little girl begging for your help, gives up pretty much saying they're doomed and the game cuts back to the rather cutesy opening as if you didn't just leave a bunch of cute little creatures to be consumed by darkness.

    In Warioland 2 for the Gameboy color, the game starts with Wario sleeping in bed and the sound of an alarm clock ringing, so you press A to jump out of bed and start your adventure - which obviously begins with Wario finding and smashing the alarm clock (that's the whole first level, it's a wierd game). But if you stay in bed, press no buttons and ignore the alarm clock for about 30 seconds - the "level completed" music starts playing while Wario is still asleep. Then you get a cutscene where Wario is kidnapped (still sleeping the whole time), which leads to an alternate branching path storyline with different levels and a different final boss. Unless you think "blowing up the world with a giant death laser then being transformed into a mindless cortex reaver" counts as a good ending. But you can, if you so desire, activate the giant death laser in "System Shock" before you activate the shield that causes it to backfire and self-destruct. Said death laser will destroy the earth, you get captured by robots and transformed into a cortex reaver, yadda yadda yadda. But honestly... System Shock is hard. Why not take the easy way out?

Well I never finished the game so maybe the story got more fleshed out as you progressed but basically it was about writing in books created worlds. @Kahadi Год назад

    In Super Paper Mario, you can refuse to start your quest when asked, and if you refuse enough, the game ends. Technically more of a quick game over though.
    Not really all that fast, but in Cave Story, after leaving for the Sand Zone and eventually returning to Mimiga Village, you're sent to the Egg Corridor again, but it's changed and is now known as the "Egg Corridor?" After beating the boss of the zone, you're offered a chance to escape on the back of a dragon. If you do so, you're never seen again and everyone dies. This does count as the Bad Ending, but it does come earlier than the other endings, cutting out the last few zones and a good chunk of the game.
    Similarly, in Devil Survivor, a SMT spin-off, there is another early bad ending, but it's still towards the end of the story. On day 6, you participate in a fight between angels and demons with some humans trying to escape. You can side with the angels or the demons, or fight both and side with the humans. If you side with the humans, you are given the chance to escape early. However, while this does count as an ending... It's a false ending, as the angels wipe out all of humanity. No New Game+ is unlocked, it just makes you continue again. This is also technically early, but... The true endings happen or start on day 6 as well, it just takes a few more cutscenes and fights depending on the ending you do. So depending on the ending you go for (and if you're playing the original or the 3DS remake), it probably only saves an hour or two of normal gameplay at most, maybe 3 if you're not great at the game and are doing your first ending still.
    All of that aside, though, I hope they put Golden Sun onto NSO's GBA player...
