- Picking up from the previous video we continue with a busy day of aviation at Kelly Field, featuring a mix of iconic military aircraft in action. This video captures the taxiing, takeoffs, and landings of F-16 Fighting Falcons from the locally based 182nd Fighter Squadron "Lone Star Gunfighters," including two jets with distinctive red-painted tails honoring the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen.
Adding to the excitement, an F/A-18F Super Hornet from VFA-106 "Gladiators" conducts a functional check flight, while a C-5M Super Galaxy from the 433rd Airlift Wing performs multiple touch-and-go landings, go-arounds, and approaches during a training sortie. Also featured are T-6 Texan II and T-38 Talon trainers sharpening their skills on local training sorties.
Kelly Field remains a vital hub for military aviation, blending heritage and modern training in its operations. Don’t miss this dynamic display of fighter jets, heavy airlifters, and trainers! Like, comment, and subscribe for more thrilling aviation content.

Great stuff!
Thank you for watching!
I’m a retired firefighter out of San Antonio and our training academy sits right under the approach for runway 16. I loved going to train there because I would see the C5’s doing touch and go’s along with many different military aircraft coming in for maintenance or training. My dad and I also got to see the SR71 Blackbird that’s on static display at Lackland AFB that’s next to Kelly AFB, come in on its final flight before going on static display in the early 90’s. Also, Growdon road which runs parallel to runway 16 used to have a very special aircraft on static display. They had a XC-99 parked there for years. It was open to the public and my dad and I would check it out when I was a kid. It was a cargo version of the B-36. It now sits in pieces at Davis Monthan AFB in Arizona.
Thank you for that wonderful story and for your service as a firefighter! I've seen many older pictures of back in the day of the incredible variety that would visit the field. Its a shame they didn't keep the XC-99 as a display, would've loved to see one.
@ Unfortunately the wing spars along with other structual components of XC-99 were made of magnesium alloys which have deteriorated so badly that the aircraft might never be restored due to the cost and labor involved.
Epic epic video broo
Thanks broo
Wished the C5s still had the TF39 engines
yay!
🔥🔥🔥
nice video
Thanks for watching!
This is awesome I enjoy this so much!!! Are those Red Tail F-16s still assigned with the squadron in Alabama or are they now with the squadron in San Antonio?
They are now assigned to the squadron in San Antonio and eventually will be painted to the San Antonio colors if they haven't already. Thank you for watching!
@BlueRockerPR it's my absolute pleasure and you are very welcome. My dream goal is to become a pilot and aim to be a fighter pilot.
The Red Tails are transfers from Alabama as they just received F-35s.
That's correct. In fact, the 182nd Fighter Squadron received a bunch of their F-16s as transfers. Thanks for watching!
Hmm? This video is a little old. The red tails have converted to the F35 for about a year now.
The description clearly states that this video was shot in Aug. 2023.
