- 2006 NISSAN TITAN ,Rear Axle, Seal and Bearing Removal
In this video I show how I remove the rear axle from the 2006 Nissan Titan so the seal and bearing can be replaced. I also show how I remove the seal , bearing and retaining ring. I am not a professional mechanic and never claim to be. If you try this yourself wear protective gear and be careful. You can get hurt working on a vehicle. I did have tools ordered to help in this removal but they have not arrived yet so I improvised with what I had. It worked so I am a happy camper. I am sure there are other processes to do this job , this is how I chose to do it.
I will be making a separate video on the install. It will include using the harbor freight 20 ton press to press the bearing and retaining ring on the axle.

That’s good that it wasn’t a “C-clip” rear end and you didn’t have to take the cover off the diff, so that’s a big time saver. Yeah somebody been in that seal before hate to say. Everything looking great on your repair work Mr. Tim. Enjoying this project of the Titan. 🧰 🛠
Yes , I was delighted to find out it wasn't c-clip or pinned. These rear ends from the factory have a little breather valve that get clogged up allowing pressure to build up blowing the seals out. The mad I did stops that. Not sure if nissan changed this or not. Job isn't to bad. Have a great weekend. I will be installing saturday.

Its not a bad job. I have done a 1969 ford truck and I put new axles in my 1984 jeep cj7. So I kinda knew what to expect. I also watch lot of RUclips videos on topic. Helps a lot. A garage charges more than I am willing to pay. Lol.

currently about to do this job on my 04 titan went to my uncles house and heard a boom luckily he had a jack and i was able to get it going enough to get it home hoping it's just the bearings just being so shot that the shaft couldn't make contact what were your symptoms?
I just did it as preventative. Had some miles on it. If I had to do over, I would buy new axles with everything already pressed on.
@@Outdoors4adventure yeah this is my second titan and the one thing I've had to change is hubs my first was an 06 had to change both front hubs got rid of that (backwards payment scenario with the bank)got a 2004 first 6 months had to change the front hubs never had the chance to enjoy changing rear hubs but your video sorta put me at ease to a point wish I had a press but luckily my dad has one awesome video and thanks for putting it out there I'll let you know how this goes lol wish me luck
I couldn't finish this job because I couldn't get my inner race out. Couldn't reuse it either because the axle they sent me has a sealed bearing instead of the roller bearing
An easy way to get the inner race out is to weld a bead in the middle of the race all the way around with a mig welder. Once the weld cools it will come right out

You can but shouldn't matter in my opinion.

Yes I do. I found if I cut the bearing almost all the way it cracks on its own.
