Everyone said "it's not sambal goreng etc etc", while It's true that it is not a sambal goreng we, indonesian, have to realize that food is evolving. This may not be our modern sambel goreng but as he said earlier that he got this recipe from his grandma perhaps this is what sambel goreng 60 years ago. For example what Jakartan eat as gado-gado is actually a rujak for eastern javanese. In east java gado-gado always contain potato, watercress, carrot, and occasionally greenbeans while in Jakarta it only contains beansprout, spinach, and other green veggies. The sauce too, in east java the sauce of gado-gado usually very soft and more liquid in consistency while In jakarta its sauce is more grainy and 'pecel'/'karedok' like consistency. So, food evolved. Maybe when his grandma got the recipe there was only one fried glazed tempe dish called sambal goreng, but now in Indonesia we have a different name for a slightly different method for cooking tempe.
@@zoejansen8277 He is serious, dude. Yes, in the past, Indonesian politics didn't want any "Dutch and European-blood" race to live in this country. But now, the condition is totally different, as more Indonesians get more access to freedom, globalization, information and education, we consider them (especially Indo) as a unique race (we call it "Bule Blasteran" ). 😏👍
sambal goreng that I know is using coconut milk. What you cook in my place called Oseng Tempe/Tahu but still looks delicious though. also I like the Krontjong song.
Looks lekker! This makes me miss my mom's cooking. I Wanna visit your restaurant bringing my dutch boyfriend, soon. Just have no idea which one in the menu he should try. He has low threshold against spices! :D
+cpakma The hourglass-shaped leaves are "daun jeruk perut", known in the West by the IMO objectionable name 'kafir lime leaves'. "Perut" means 'pock-marked' and refers to the very rough skin of these limes. The other big leaves are salam leaves, like the other ones available frozen from some asian food shops.
we usually don't say 'selamat makan' BUT ' Selamat menikmati' if you mean to ask us eating the food you made and 'selamat mencoba' if you wanna recommend us to try your recipe...

I gues that was not Sambal goreng tempe coz tempe and tahu were dominated, here in indo we called Orek tempe tahu, thats look sweety tempe tahu, ketjap is dominating, try to make crunchy tempe or tempe penyet ( Tempe penyet fried tempe then make a spicy sambal and mashed together.
Bedankt he . ;-) . Oja . leuk hoe jij zo met die mevr bezig bent te leren maken ;-)
That's not sambal (chili paste).. lol. too much ketchup (ketjap).. so it should be called "sambal ketchup goreng tempe - tahu" . Sambal ketchup is popular too in indonesia. ^_^ Selamat makan..
too much soy sauce.. it'll cover up the taste of other seasoning, and all you'll get is nothing but a sweetness from soy sauce. sorry for my bad English.
